auto volume control?
Is it possible my factory stereo has some kind of noise-sensing volume control? There's no mention of it in the manual, but I swear it goes up and down by itself.

yes, its speed-sensitive volume, meaning as you go faster, it incrementally increases in modulation.

I find the auto-volume annoying, but I wouldn't cut the wires...I'll just live with it. Thanks for the sig help GDawg...that's how I spent my weekend!
You really do not know how annoying it is until they turn that ******* off. I used to hate that thing, its all solved now. They plug a machine into your computer and turn it off.......as I have said it takes 5min. They would probably do it for free.....I would call and ask. If they charge by the hour for service and it takes 5 min. ......how much could it be to turn that pain in tha azz off.
RF=Rockford Fosgate amplifier
I had it patched into my bose system......Now I have that awesome BASS my system was lacking.....I also had a remote subwoofer volume knob installed on my console so I can back off the bass or add to it depending on the song. Had the amp, sub and installation done for about $500 total.
