just got my car back, & another problem...
oh man, i feelin kinda down, lots of stuff going on and to top it off, the benz isn't running at 100%. anyways just got my car back from the shop, had to change the head gaskets, and now my car has some hesitation from 5K rpm to 10K rpm. it just goes up and down unless i'm at a full stop or punchin the gas. this just started yesterday on the way to church and continued this morning on the way to work.
please let this be an easy fix, because i can't afford another fix anytime soon. maybe i should try to call the benz mech. and see what he says...

u should take it back in the shop and tell them this came up after u got it. could be a sensor problem

Weird that it didn't trip any codes.
I have read that O2 sensors are common problems on the M104 and that somethimes it goes bad and won't trip the light. Same witht he MAS but the MAS usually trips the sensor.
See if you can hook it up and see what the last code given was.

I've had that problem at stop lights where it would drop in RPM's to below 500 then back up to about 700. Had the dealer diagnose and it was a O2 sensor messing up, but no codes. Replaced it and the idle was smooth again.
Good luck!

Also check the EGR tube. It's a common problem that it gets clogged. You can either reem it out with a speedo cable and a drill attached or buy the updated part. Don't forget to clean the inlet of that tube from the intake manifold.

dougandhisc280 is on his 3rd head gasket! that's scary. i just had mine done and i'm still leaking tiny bit of oil. i don't have the bottom oil catch so i'm getting smaller drops in my garage than before. i don't mind the small drops now but i'm scared of my car smoking again... any thoughts...

I had the same issue with mine for about 6 months, except mine did it on start up where it wouldn't start and then I would have to pump the pedal to get it started. Sometimes it would putter to a start and shoot up to about 2K before resting at idle speed. It had hesitation in the 3K to 4.5K range. It was the MAS (Mass Air Sensor) causing the problem. i replaced it and now the car screams, I love it. Plus it starts fine!

omg, i just opened my hood to take a look at the mas (the first one after the air filter right?) while filling up on $2.40 mobil gas and saw that it wasn't connected all the way. so i screwed it in all the way and it feels like the car has less hesitation than before. hopefully it will heal all the way. anyways i'm still bringing it in tomorrow for the mech to check any more leaks and the slight hesitation. man...

well guyz, i brought my car back in fri morn. and by the afternoon my mech had fixed two of my problems. first he diagnosed the car (cel) and found there was an air leaky transmission hose. he re-attached it and killed two birds with one stone. he said that should've fixed what my cel was asking for and also my hesitation surges from 500 to 1000 rmp's were gone. my car felt so much more powerful when i picked it up that afternoon and ran smoothly. i was so happy.
unfortunately he discovered where the rest of the leak(drips of fluid) was coming from. transmission fluid from the middle, bottom of my car. the leak sometimes hits my exhaust and smokes it up from the bottom of my car.
