Radio replacement for 1997 C230 issue
I have replaced the old radio with a new JVC KD-R680S unit and bought the antenna conversion and the wiring harness. Everything works but the volume is very low for all functions (CD, Radio, Aux).
The original radio was the unlabeled which I believe was an Alpine if my research was correct.
There were 3 harnesses. Two have the same plug size and one slightly wider. The wider plug which was located on the top had 7 wires and this entire harness seems to be useless with the new radio based on all the diagrams.
Is this third harness an amplifier or something that has caused the volume to be so low? Do I need an amplifier because of the Benz speakers or need to replace the speakers? It gives me just low volume at max volume on the radio. The JVC unit gives out 50W X 4 Speaker, 22W X4 full bandwith power, impedance is 4 - 8.
Just hoping someone else has gone through this exercise before.

Just in case anyone is searching for something similar. The problem was that the Metra Wire Harness came with RCA jacks. In this case they were the problem. I cut them off and hard wired them to the terminal outputs for the speaker wires and everything is working
