Xenons. Self-leveling?

OK, I could have sworn that my xenons self-leveled when I first turned them on during the first week or two that I've had the car.

I since had to have the left headlight unit replaced because of a short, and now the lights don't self-level anymore when first turning them on.

Was I hallucinating before, or do these things have self-leveling?

Thanks!

John

Your car should have the auto level function on it if your car came with Xenons from the factory, if they were installed prior to delivery they probably do not have the function.

They were installed at the factory, so they were self-leveling. However, since the one side headlight unit was replaced under warranty a few weeks ago, the self-leveling not worked. So, I guess I need to have the dealer fix it.

Thanks,

John

I would take it to the dealer to have them check it out. Good luck.

I have a 1999 C43 and the factory xenons that the car came with are self leveling. Go to your dealer and tell them your situtation and Im sure they can take care of it.

Well, I dug into the front of my car, and all I can say is what an idiot the local dealership is. Not only did they not adjust the aiming of the replaced headlight, they also neglected to reconnect the wires to what is apparently the leveling motor. I found it tucked away, plugged it in, and voila! I now have the self-leveling function back.

I wonder if I can bill them for one hour's labor?

Thanks everyone.

I would definately call the service manager and let him know about his mechanics screw up, he may do something about it or he may disregard it. Congrats on solving the problem yourself.
