Crank but no start

Ok so basically my car cranks but doesnt turn over or does then dies . Half the time it starts as normal. I have an srs light on. So far i changed my oil and spark plugs. Cleaned throttle body and mass air flow. Only thing i could think of is the fuel filter. 96 c220

You wasted loads of money---have you checked the fuel pressure?

Is your battery 100% charged? Even if your lights are on, your battery might not have enough strength to start your car. It can be deceptive.

You need to also determine if it's a fuel issue, one way to do that is to spray starter fluid in the intake and see if it starts (after which it would die shortly.) That would indicate fuel is not getting to your engine.

Also, do you hear the fuel pump going on when you turn the key to on? The fuel pump is located near the passenger rear under a plastic cover - you probably know this because you changed the fuel filter. If it is a fuel delivery issue you can have a fault pump or fuel relay (green relay in your trunk.)
