Hey guys, im a newbie. I own a 1995 C280. I just put on a new set of ATE power disc front rotors and new OEM MB pads for the front. Ive been using it for about 2 months now and now, the brakes are pure CRAP. Whenever I brake lightly, it makes this grinding squeaking annoying sound. ATE Power Disc SUCK! I knew i should have just done an OEM set up now i have to buy new rotors again. What is the OEM front and rear rotors? Is it BALO? Thanks

I dont think I FU@#$%$ up on the install man, its not too hard to to put on rotors, just take off the set screw and put the new rotor and set screw back on and thats exactly what I did. Unless............

ATE sucks holy hog ***. Never buy them, get Brembro or Zimms. As a rule, dealer pads are made by them too...sucky. Try Pagid or Remza next time, anti-squeal is already bonded to the back of the pad. Great feel, great cold-bite etc. For now, try re-bedding them, stopping HARD 3x from speed. You probally need to camber the edges of the pads with a file. Not worth it when Remzas are so cheap. I'd replace the pads and keep the rotors, even though they >SUCK<!

I put ate power disks with OEM pagid pads and I have no grinding noises to report, just really good stopping power...
about the install... did you clean the rotors before installation?
did you use the special anti squeeck lubricant when installing the pads?... sometimes it can make all the difference...

It's the pads squealing, not the rotors. ATE rotors now have dressing the does not need to be wiped off, although I would wipe them down. Pagids are great pads, I'm not even interested in trying any new ones.

I will try the ATE discs
I just ordered the the ATE power discs along w/ PBR deluxe pads for the gf's 2000 BMW 323i. Will put it on this weekend and let you know if it squeaks.
It will be installed by my brother at his shop, so no excuses for if you did it right or put the anti-squeaking gel.
I'll keep you posted. I was thinking of getting the same setup for my '99 C280 so will be doing my own roadside test.

I have ATE rotors on mine for about 4 months, and I can say I get the same grinding noise from mine useing the pads that I got when ordering the rotors,Feels like your using bricks instead of pads too stop the car.In the wet theres no problems only get it when its dry slowing up for junctions.Going OEM when I can afford.

I put the ATE power discs and PBR deluxe pads on this morning on the gf's 2000 BMW 323i (4/2/04) and so far so good. Not much grinding noise.
I wanted the same setup for the rear but doesn't seem like the have the ATE power discs. Just the regular ATE discs.
It'll be a couple weeks to find the true affects and brake dust result.

I had the same problem for my volvo. You may need to file the edge of the pads.

Too bad there is always some jerk shooting off his mouth, without having a clue.

And will probably be my next setup on the '99 C280.
