Maybe buying a C280?
Got a line on a '96 with about 80K on the clock. Seems to be very well taken care of. Wondering what the weak points are on this platform so I know what I am getting into wrt maintenance and common failures. If you have some ballpark numbers on cost to fix these things as well that would be great.

have you test driven it yet?
mmm, common problems. Since it's a '96, I believe they're considered the best w202 out of all the years because it's the last year before they went to the c230 change over and they've worked out all the bugs in the first two years.
some common problems:
O2 sensors going out
MAF
Wiring Harness (should be fixed already by '96, MB used biodegradable insulation
)
Infamous Headgasket (should be fixed by '96 as well)
those are some that i can think of, but '96 seems to have the least trouble with stuff!
Maintenance is kinda on the expensive side, when things break, average cost is like $500 each time to fix something and that's on the low side...only goes up from there :p
As long as you do the oil changes and keep an eye on stuff, should last for a good long time.
