Flashers going off erratically

I have a '99 C280 Sport and the flashers are going off erratically. I thought it was the batteries in the alarm siren so I have taken that off and was going to order a new one. However, I walked out this morning and they are flashing again. Sometimes it's just the front flashers, sometimes front and back. I have to disconnect the main battery to make it stop. Any ideas on what it might be?

First it was all 4, then after I removed the alarm siren it was just the front 2 flashers. And it's a random type flash, not like a hazard function. Where do you think the water ingress is? In the flashers themselves or someplace else?
Thank you for your response!

Now I must think..... I think the front fuse box with Sam controls the indicators. If you have a diagnostic tool check the inputs to the EZS. That is what reads the input of the indicator stalk then it passes via CAN to the front Sam. I would pull the fuse box out and check under it inside the plugs for any corrosion. PSE pump is in the boot and that is also the alarm system. So check there too

I don't have any diagnostic tool so I'm unable to check that. I'm really new to this so what is the EZS, CAN, Sam and PSE? And do you mean the fuse box in the front of the car in the engine compartment? And where is the boot?
I've always had a dealer work on this car, but it gets rather spendy. My a/c doesn't work so I don't usually drive it much in the summer so it sets.
Another question for you...where might the fuse be for the adjustment to the automatic seats? They don't want to move at all and I'm guessing that it might be a fuse also? Needing to get the headliner fixed and they are going to need to put the backs of the seats down and right now, they won't move at all.
It's becoming a bit of a project car, but I love it!!

EZS is ignition switch
CAN is controller area network its 2.wires that connect all the control units so they can share data
PSE is central locking pump
Boot is your truck
Check the rear fuse box by the battery for the seat fuse
Without diagnostic tools you going to battle even if you know the system well. Take it to an Indy
