merc c180/1996/headlights and tail lights not working
hi guys,my C180 is misbehaving again...the head lights and tails lights have stopped working.only the turn signals, the hazards and brake lights are working.
when I turn the headlights switch nothing happens even the dashboard does not show that that the lights are on.the parking lights also not functioning...but when I flash the high beam it works and shows on the dash...any ideas? am a bit reluctant to take it back to the delears as they are so expensive.

First check your fuse (signal fuse under the hood fuse box), then check your signal relay (under the hood in the box behind the fuse box)
If you switch on your turn signal, you should hear the relay "ticking". If not, it may be loose (maybe press down on the relay box (a few of them in there - I recall it being the big rectangular one in the front and middle), or you may have to replace that relay switch.

Check fuses for sure, if any are blown then check wiring on the inside headlight assembly as they tend to deteriorate and for tail light plate look for corrosion in or near contacts. Each headlight and all have there own fuses, after I fixed my brights by getting new assemblies I was bewildered for a second until I went and saw that each have their own fuse for the most part. Should be on driver side under hood by brake booster/master cylinder. It even has a chart diagram so it's pretty easy.
