how does the amg exhast compare (hp wise and sound) to aftermarket exhausts from the likes of brabus, remus and eiss? how do they sound different? please help as i am having a lot of trouble deciding which one to put on my car... thanks for the help everybody
AMG mufflers have a very very mild tone. Barely noticeable. I do not believe you will realized any HP gain over 2 or 3.
actually the AMG muffler on my C32 is pretty loud at low rpm. but the engine sound will take over the exaust sound at high rpm.
i have compare the exaust note of my C32 with my friend's CLK55 and mine turn out to be louder some how...
but it is still quiet compare with Brabus, Remus, and Eiss.
go with BRABUS
i like that brand better.

Adding an AMG muffler (only) to a a regular C-Class will not produce the sound or rumble heard from an AMG car. I hope that regular W202 or W203 owners do not think they will get the same exhuast note just by adding the rear muffler.

i've heard very good things about eissenmann. remus supposedly is not full stainless steel and is thus questionable for longevity. i don't know ***** about brabus exhaust but often tunders have muffler manufacturers break out boxes to their spec for sound etc. i think remus makes AC Schnitzer exhausts, someone correct me if i'm wrong. you might want to check out the HKS klasse line, but if not go with the eisenmann.Originally posted by DMBatUVa

Just bought supersprint catback company states that i gain 8-10 hp to wheels. Will see when mounted. I had supersprint on my audi sounded better than remus. And for a C class the cat back is $690 with shiping.

i guess he's only talking about the tail pipe than

oresama99, my E55 AMG muffler does not appear to be stainless steel. The outer construction appears to be just steel - the kind that rust. I also added an AMG aftermarket exhaust to my 98 E430 and the whole unit looked like regular steel. Maybe some stainless steel on the inside (a guess) however on the outside it looks like steel.
