95 C280: CEL with alarm

I purchased a 95 C280 with 49Kmile four year ago. I changed oil regularly and had a 60Km check. The car has been performing great. At 80Km, the CEL was on. I read through the threads and tried the disconnect battery method. I did not realize the car has an aftermarket alarm (the original owner told me that the alarm did not work, so I just left it there).

When I reconnect the neg post, the alarm went on. I inserted the key to turn on the engine, but the alarm apparently kill the ignition. I pushed a little push button switch underneath the driver console, I thought it might turn off the alarm, it did not. After a couple of minutes of listening the sound of the alarm, I decide to disconnect the neg post (again). After an hour, I tried to start the whole process again, hopefully the alarm might reset itself, but the alarm goes on after I connect the neg post.

Question:

1. How do you remove the bottom driver console? I am trying to find the ignition wire that is probably tapped by an extra wire. I removed the two screws underneath the console, one screw by the hood released handle, one big plastic screw by the firewall. The left side of the console is loosened but the right side (next to the radio) refused to move.....

Please let me know. This is the wife's car, and she is pissed!!!!

Thanks

DB

I hope you've already figured something out by now, as it's been over 2 weeks. But anyway, thought I'd toss this one out there. On other cars I've had with alarms, sometimes all you have to do is put the key into the ignition, turn it to "on" (not "start"), and then hold down that button or switch you said you found under the dash. That may shut it off. My guess is you've had it towed to an alarm specialist by now, anyway. Sorry I didn't see your post sooner!
