Hi guys, so i recently put a new water pump kit in my 1996 c220, it came with the thermostat and thermostat housing, i also put a new coolant temperature sensor. Before all of this, the temperature gauge didn't go above the middle mark, but now with all the parts installed it goes all the way up to the 3/4 mark when the A C is on and a little lower when not. It won't go higher than the 3/4 mark. Is this correct? isn't a little high?
What would be the correct temperature? What should i fix to get it right?
Coolant sensor is new as well. it is a brand new 4 pin coolant sensor.
The car does not over heat but i think the gauge should not pass the middle mark, am i wrong?

What is your outside air temp? This factors into it also.
Temp gauges have never been that accurate, imo. Just a dummy gauge to let you know the engine temps are in the correct ballpark. Perhaps your fan is not performing as it should be?
To get a more accurate engine temp reading, you have to pull up the live data on the climate control unit.
Your old thermostat probably was a bit conservative. Mercedes do run between 85 and 100 C, under normal load, and ambient temp from 10-35 C. If you haul a trailer or driving in the mountains, temp can climb to 120 C, but that is still acceptable, and within normal operating parameters.
So, don't worry, your new thermostat is just working fine, as long as you don't get a red warning, "Engine overheating".
Thanks a lot. if you look at the pictures the outside temp was 36 celsius, thats near 100 fahrenheit, it gets very hot here in my hometown , we have reached 120 fahrenheit in the summer.
