C280 Hesitation

C280 Hesitation
Have a 2000, C280 Sport. Took it in for service because of hesitation. They replaced something in the computer or the computer. Seemed OK after the fix, but now the problem is back. When you need acceleration power or passing power, it has to think a couple of seconds and then pours it on. Anyone else experience this. It's extremely annoying and dangerous, especially getting on to highways from zero start or needing quick passing power. Any suggestions before I get irritated enough to buy something else?

Did you not get any replies to this? I have something similar on my 280, but it is a misfire which lasts for 1 or 2 secs when I floor it - like two cylinders not firing. Then the power comes in smoothly. Did you get yours fixed? What was it?

I thought this was normal behavior...I think there's a switch on the back of the accelerator that when pressed downshifts...or you can try downshifting with the shifter.
Did the check engine light come on?

I have both a C280 and a 190E. The 190 does what I think you are talking about. The C doesn't hesitate at all. I do think you have a problem, just don't know what it is.

Does this problems always happen, or just from a cold start? I read on MBWorld a while ago that on models with throttle-by-wire, in order to reduce emissions, the throttle computer causes the slight hesistation. I don't remember the logic behind this, but catalytic converters work much better warm.

I've had the same problem, my car started to misfire twice and i paid a hefty price to get it fixed, just because i put wrong spark plugs in my car i had to pay $245 to get that fixed, buy the right spark plugs that is why your car is misfiring and choking!!!!

I had that problem two weeks before the MAF went bad.

99 c230k as well...
seems i have the same problem with my car, only happens when the car is first started, then it runs fine. it also once didn't start at all, though the starter sounded fine, and after 15 tries, it went fine. i'm hoping it's just the MAS as everyone else has apparently had the same problem with that sensor, but i'm going to have a hard time getting a new one seeing as how i'm in the middle of nowhere in michigan.

I got a 20000 c230k and I have the prob too. I just replaced the MAS and it also seemed to make my tranny shift a little better (wierd). I am going to try new plugs. I ran with a bas MAS for like 20k and maybe the fuel mix was too off for too long and fouled them. Ill post what I find.
