Odd instrument panel problem

Hi guys

Today I filled up the gas tank of my 94 C280 and when I cranked it to leave the gas station, I had no speedometer, no rpm, no fuel qty, no odometer, trip counter, no temp and not even the clock was on! Only the eng temp gage was working. The radio, eng, trans, pw, pl all worked fine. I thought I blew a fuse. No sweat. But then, five miles later, it all came back on to normal, except I had to reset the clock.

I hope this isn't a preview of coming attactions, as this car has been great. I put over 50k miles on it since I bought it with 98k, and it has been a real joy to own and drive, just careful PM, and it keeps on going. 26-27 mpg too!

Any ideas on my (Intermittent) instrument problem?

Thanks!

redgaucho

Unhappy Mee too

The same thing happened to me, except aftre I took off the on the windshield moulding. My Instrument panel is dead, though the car starts and drives (except for the blinkers). And, so far, it still isn't working....

Did you find out anything about the problem?

Not really...

The problem hasn't reoccurred, so I can't really fix it if I can't duplicate it. I think it may have been something like a plug-in connector behind the instrument panel, but I really don't know... If it happens again, I will reach behind the instrument panel and move things around a bit... and go from there, I guess...

I found this on the W201 board. Maybe this might help you as well.
