94 C280 Overheating
My 94 C280 just started overheating. The twin fans are working just fine. Suspect I'm not getting circulation of coolant. The most obvious solution would be to replace the thermostat but I don't know where it is in the engine compartment. Can someone describe the location for me? Thanks.

overheating
hi rob,
here's my .02
on all of my cars the top radiator hose leads to a neck in the engine block. the thermostat is under that neck, it should have a few bolts around the rim of the neck. drain the coolant from the radiator into a pan and keep it away from the dogs and inlaws, if you like your inlaws, and yank that sucker off, remove hoses, wires and assorted paraphanelia that are attached to the neck first, get the bolts out, and you may have to use a rubber hammer to get the old gasket to break loose, clean everything up super good, put the new thermostat in, make real sure its in the right direction, stick everything back together, leave the cap off the radiator fill with coolant, start the car flip on the heater, and watch for the air to purge out of the radiator, keep an eye on the temp guage, should just take a few minutes. ad the rest of the coolant, cap the radiator. if it's not your water pump, your all set.

try this
the thermostat is right front of you. just follow the upper radiator hose. the termostat is in the housing. remove the three bolts put the new one in very easy. just make sure the engine is cold when you do that. it cost about $25./ good luck......
