Glove box issues

Yesterday my glov box door stopped closing. It looks like the striker latch disconnected from the black backing on the interior of the door. Does anyone know how to get the glove box door off? I am going to try to fix the latch by using epoxy to adheir it into posistion. This will be a lot cheeper than replacing the door @ a cost of $185.00

I doubt that epoxy will be good enough to hold it. To save some bucks, you may want to check a local dismantler (junk yard). There are quite a few W202s in junk yards these days.

What color are you looking for?

I think it is easier to remove the whole glove compartment first... there are clips at the top and bottom, and then after those are removed you have to wedge the whole thing out.

If you go the glue route, instead of epoxy, try "Liquid metal." I have found it works much better than epoxy and is even black to blend in more with the box.

Where did you buy it? Can I get "liquid metal" at home depot?

Last time I used the stuff I borrowed it from my Uncle. Since he lives in a small town the only 2 choices where he could have bought the stuff was either at Lowes or Walmart. I think I have seen it at Walmart but I dont remember. I would call around before chasing it down but Im pretty sure it is called Liquid Metal. Also, you can sand and paint it for the perfect look. If you cant locate it, Ill write my Uncle and ask where he found it. Just let me know.

Than ks for the info...I'm not worried about the look of the repair. That part actually lives between the front and back of the clove box door.

The fix was $3.95. A tube of JB Weld and all is well.
