Installed new Bilstein HD shocks

Just wanted to report that I had all four of my factory C280 Sport shocks, which had 83,000 miles on them, with Bilstein HD. For anyone who wants to retain a ride similar to that of the stock Sport shocks, I highly recommend the HD's. The car rides very, very similar to stock. I also had the steering damper replaced. Overall, the ride is much improved, as at least one of my shocks (front passenger) was totally shot.

actually the Bilstein hd's are exactly what MB uses as the stock shocks on the W202 chassis.. so u basically replaced the shocks you already had in there with the same thing.. just brand new.
You should have got the Bilstein sports.. then you really would have noticed a difference in ride quality.
Im going to get the Bilstein sports.. they should go nicely with my eibach springs.

Comfort is what comes on the C class. HD is a step up. Sport shocks are shorter so they only work the way they were designed on a lowered set up.

Exactly !
HD's & Sports have the same valving ( dampening ), but as Doug said, are intended to maintain the same pistontravel when you run lowering springs.

Hi,

I replaced my front shocks with Bilstein shocks.....
Unfortunately the suspension feels like it is filled with cement...
Should I be replacing the coil springs as well....?
Wots wrong with my suspension...???
It does not feel like any Jap or American car...???

If you are using bilstein sport shocks you could be maxing out the stretch range of them. You can try a thinner spring pad but for all that trouble you might as well get some H&R's or something.
