I would guess Mobile 1 red cap which should be 15-50 weight.

I am a little suprised that you would be getting a warning to add oil.
Even if you top it up I would take a trip to the dealer.

WHY?

Its not unusual to have to add oil to a vehicle. Therefore why would you have to take it to the stealer afterwards. I would agree with your statement if the problem persisted after the addition of oil. But none of that is either stated or implied by the posters initial statement.

I disagree on this one. A new vehicle (of any make) should not leak or burn oil at all. I check the oil periodically on my four year-old C320, and there has never been any variance in the oil levels, either during break-in or any time since through 38,000 miles to date.

Normally I would agree with you but in this case I have to differ. The vehicle was purchased in 7-04 per his own previous post. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that in the meantime some oil has been lost.
I have seen my oil level, checking with dyno mode, go down to the point where on my first Service A I got into the dealership with an "add oil" warning. At that time I also checked with the dyno mode on pickup and found out that the level read way low compared to what the manual states. But my SA, upon showing him this, happily added 3/4 quart and gave me the remainder as backup.
