Road & Track Article

So I'm in Borders and notice that the July issue has a comparison test of 12 sport sedans (including the C320). So I decide to read it and the winner is....Infiniti G35????

Now I'd been driving a 528 wagon (1999) and was looking for new wheels as my lease was expiring - something around $500 month. So I checked out Infiniti and test drove the car.

While the engine was peppy, the interior felt like a cheap Yugo. It was all plasticy and chintzy. Now the BMW is another story, and having purchased a C320 Wagon, I'd have to say that the BMW is more fun to drive on twisty roads, but the MB is nicer the rest of the time. Of course, I paid under $35K for my MB so the price differential they didn't apply in my case.

What a worthless rag...

Just so we know your borders, any magazine that disagrees with your view is a worthless rag? Just want to be clear.

I just read the article as well; the comparo went more for sport in their sport sedans, and say what you will, the Benz isn't the sportiest out there. I would hope that most c class owners would give R&T that point.

I was happy to see that the Saab did very well, and very surprised to see them dog the Volvo S60 that much.

I did check out the Infinity at the Auto Show and must say that I found the interior rather unappealing - plasticky & chintzy - but it's all a matter of taste and preferences. Just like the Lexus IS300 interior: some love it, some hate it. I'm sure the G35 is a blast to drive. The authors made their points very clear, and I respect that. Opinions never completely converge. To me, the 'rag' is still worth reading and the subscription price. Note also that all 11 cars were said to be excellent, and the point spread is rather narrow. They can't all be #1. It is pointed out that you can't lose with any of them. And for those willing to shell out almost 10 grand more, the BMW will be the top choice.

I like the Saab!

I was reading on the lex forum about this article as well because it beat out a lex aparently... They were giving the car props actually...

As for me, personally I like the G35...I think it's a sharp car.. i have not seen the interior of it yet or test driven it but I'm sure it's a little rocket...

to each his/her own

I am curious to see the new Infiniti coupe this fall. It will be a 2+2 that is supposed to put out 275 horse and sell for under $30k. I don't think that I will ever covet a Infiniti, but it sounds like a lot of car for the $$$$.

I think the rear lights on the G35 look rather funny. The rest of the car looks fine though.

I know it was a 9-5, and yes, pretty sure that it was an Aero, but not 100% positive.

And here's a tip for MB: it was a manny!
