clanking noise
so i just got my Tein basic coilovers installed this past weekend. These things ride pretty stiff, but im old, so who knows.... anyways today i started to hear a clanking sound from the front passenger side. Its kinda like a hollow clank, like something is loose. it happens when i go over bumps, i can hear it more on small bumps (big bumps i hear everything else) I can't get back to the shop til this weekend. It doesn't sound too major, do you think it'll be fine til saturday??
Thanks!
Thanks!

I had the same sound you described coming from the drivers side after I had the TEIN Basics installed on my coupe. I tried everything, from having the swaybar bushings lubed, control arm endlinks changed out, etc. and finally the thing that made it go away was lowering the coilovers almost all the way down in front. SLAM THAT B!+(# FTW!
I know its not that low, but the streets out here suck!!! i hate having to drive 15mph on 40mph streets, and i feel like i'm gonna get rear ended when i swerve or slow down for one of these big *** potholes...

This weekend a friend of mine installed the same suspension I have in my car (koni sport + eibach springs) in his CLK270CDI and it happened the opposite than in my car... the rear ended up to high!!!
I have the biggest spring top, and him the lowest and my car is too low and his is to high at rear!!! (this compared to the front, we have the same hight)
We are considering to change our springs just to see how it will look like!
My question here is, having a spring with rear axle load of 1170kg (clk) and installing it in a sport coupe (eibach specific spring load 1035kg) how can the handling or riding could be affected!?!? and in the opposite situation, C spring in the CLK??
Thanks

Can anyone tell me what a "perch" that has been discussed in the DIY? I have H&R coilovers and the rear is still high even after the springs settle down, I have 4 more coils left until the lowest setting. So I guess something is wrong. Oh and you can see how high is the rear here.
By looking at the rear suspension I can see something like a cup upside down on the top of the spring and it is metal, so I guess it is part of the body
. I need some light.
Thanks for the countless help.

the perch is aka the thing you adjust for height.
for H&R the perch goes on the top. If you have the perch on the bottom then something is wrong.

Thx for the quick answer Frank, as usuall, verry helpfull.

. So the perch is like that cylinder? Well the spring pad... is it what they call the bushing? If I understand it is going to be metal on metal? wouldn't that make noise?![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

another possible reason why your ride height is high if everything is installed properly might be because the set you bought was from a 240/320/32/55 sedan which has heavier spring rate, so it doesn't compress as much with no weight sitting on the rear for the c-coupe.

Well, I checked it is for c230. Is the one from the c230 ss any different from c230 sc? My front is almost all the way up and have the same hight.
Oh wait that perch had to be removed ? so there will be only spring?, so in order to go lower it is necessary to remove the adjustable perch? OR I'm totally lost
.
Again thx for your patience.

06 C350 sport 6MT
update- kw v2 c/o, dunlop z1 star spec
installed kw v2 on my 06 c350 sport- lowered the car nicely and tightened up too, thennnn, i installed dunlop star specs to fronts only, WOW, the car turns in instantly and grips the road like velcro, my car is really dialed in now, oh yeah, rides even better w front tires at 32 psi, up from recs of 29. one ***** was the new tires rubbed on the coil overs so i had to overnite ship( $70 bucks), some 10mm h/r wheel spacers. also installed the $25 morse ceramic pads on the front brakes, they work well and emit almost no dust, but they sqeeeeeek like a ******, esp when damp outside. oh well, must take ying w the yang.

HELP with picking lowering springs!
I tried looking up what the best brand and deal is for lowering springs on my 05 c230 kompressor, but I had not luck...I searched through this forum but couldn't find what I was looking for.
So guys, what are your recommendations on lowering springs on my car? I live in Pasadena, California. I want to get nice springs for my c230 but at the same time save money, so if you guys have suggestions, please let me know as soon as possible. Goal is to get nice but affordable springs at a good price It would be great if you guys have recommendations on auto shops that have cheap labor and good parts! btw if I just want to lower the car (for cosmetic preferences) and basic cornering, is getting springs enough?
p.s. my c-class is stock, so how much should I drop to look good on 17's?.

If Im looking for just a cosmetic setup, would installing lowering springs be good enough, or would I need to change other parts as well? I want to make sure that after lowering it, the rear and the front are "balanced"
