My mechanic confirmed there was no perch pad with my original set up and this was the only way it could be installed.

Now my question is do you think bc these came off a wagon they sit this high?

Maybe the Wagon c/o set uses a stronger rear spring (to help compensate for the potentail extra weight when the wagon is full) and hence the springs sit higher with less weight on them.

I note the H&R part numbers are different for the wagon and sedan versions of the coil overs, (29367-2 Wagon vs. 29367 sedan).

BUT....seems like a big difference to explain by just the springs being a bit stronger..

Maybe a email to customer support would give you the answer?

BigAlC230K - In response to your PM, I took the liberty of posting the numbers here in case anyone else needs the same parts. The links (#50) and their respective nuts (#60) are either 10 mm or 12 mm. The sports suspension package, option code 486, is supplied with the 12 mm parts.

There’re inevitably some odd variations and exceptions throughout the model run, so it’s probably prudent to measure their thread size first if unsure. Incidentally, the left and right hand links are the same part.

spring rate difference wouldn't cause that much difference in ride height (1") as you described. coilover springs are not suppose to settle especially when they are already used. over the spring's life time it may settle less than 1/4" and that would probably be consider a bad set of springs.

If you only had the springs previously with the stock shocks then you should have the spring pads in there no matter what. the only other scenario i could think of is that the actual adjustable perch for the wagon is different than the sedans. which could be why even at lowest setting the perch itself is still thicker than the perch used by the sedans.

If you have a jackstand you can lift the car up. take off the lower suspension arm bolts and slide the springs out. the jack needs to have pretty good ground clearance or you won't have enough room btw.

I cut 5 minutes off my commute when I 1st replaced springs, due to not fighting to stay in the seat (along with AMG sways) CO's are even better, but yeh, stiff.

Most likely you'll have rubbing issues. Recommended offset for coilovers is ET28-32 up front.

I have a wagon and I just installed a suspension that came from a C32 AMG sedan. I can tell you that the rear sits way lower than the front on my wagon. I've also heard that the wagon is heavier in the rear than the sedan.

I'm thinking of getting coilovers to get the correct lowering. How's the ride on those H&R coilovers?

I love 'em! I was skeptical at first bout doing this to my car cause I thought I'd be bouncin all over the place! Not the case. The ride literally almost feels like stock.

As a matter of fact, I've noticed probably after they've settled my drop is a little un-even so I'm gonna take it back in to have it leveled again.

On H&R's website they note something about variations to height due to manufacturer's shim perch. But you guys are saying that you don't use shim perches with coilovers. Is this correct?

They also say something about needing spacers. How can I check if spacers are needed? I'm not using spacers on the wheels I have now which are Carlsson 1/6 EVO 18x8.5 front & 18x9.5 rear

I just purchased some '07 17 inch rims and tires from a friend's C2?? sport model and installed them on my '04 C240, with 16 inch rims. They are nice!

My C240 needs to be lowered! My stock C240 needs to be lower so I'm thinking of buying someones old springs if they will fit and lower my car. I don't want a stiffer ride, just a little lower for looks.

Anyone selling their old sport springs (if they lower my car)? I checked the Tire Rack and they sell lowering springs, not sure if they will stiffen the ride or not. Any suggestions on a soft riding lowering spring?

I read some past reports and the pics were removed. I thought I read that the rears only dropped it 1/4 inch??

I think I need new springs...any recommendations on a soft riding lowering spring?

I liked the Vogtland springs when I had them.
Nice ride, not too stiff, not too low.
Just right!
But my shocks eventually wore out so I went with a CO setup and adjustable shocks. Much more expensive, but so is a comfortable pair of nice shoes you wear every day! Same thing.

If you just want lower you could cut a 1/2 a coil off....
but I don't recommend it.

I'm in the same boat - c240 with 17 inch c230 '05 rims (which I think are one of the nicest looking set of OEM rims ever produced)

I've been flip flopping over the last 2 years - do I call carlab and get the Tien Stechs - they had a special installed and out the door - something like 500)

I only want the front lower - the rear looks good.

Like I say I flip flop - I see my car in front of my house - and it sits perfectly - then I'm at work and I see my car in the lot - and it looks jacked up and I cringe.

The research that I've done - I'm going with the stechs (if I ever do it.)

I have a question for you guys,

I dropped my car some time ago, with eibach pro-kit springs, but I noticed I have different heights at the front, 65cm left 64cm rigth!!!
What could cause this!? Maybe alignment?
I have a special alignment done withe MB alignment screws (one wheel pushed to the front, etc... since my tires where worn outside since the car was new!)

Happened to someone else?!
