What kind of question is this? Almost every suspension thread has indicated someone using one of the two TEIN coilover sets (SS or Basic). There are even a few people on here using the S-tech's.

Okay, but please be specific about what "kind" of Bilstein's you are using. If you are using just Bilstein Shocks that are non-adjustable, then that's probably part of your problem. If you want to decrease body-roll, you have to consider swaybar upgrade and adjustable damper coilovers.

Yah, I'm installing stock suspension from an 06 C230 Compressor Sport that a customer left after we installed his new Tein coilovers. He said he didn't want it so I'm going to use it and change the rear spring pad to the #1 since I have a C240 and i understand it has like #4 pads stock. I want it as low as possible on the set-up. I like the tucked rear look anyhow..I know some of you don't like it. This set-up is only temporary till I install my custom airsus (air sleeve, not air bag) so it's just for the time being. Anyone have pics of said set-up from the newer w203's?

If you've got a 240, I would check to see if your car has the rear fenders rolled, otherwise, it's quite possible that you'll have rubbing issues.

what required in the rolling process? any painting? etc was thinking about getting a H&R cup kit with some 18's/ found some online F- 18x8.5 -- R 18x9.5 with an offset of 35mm

would i have to roll if i got those [moreso the rear]? I want to stay at 18's cause i think its a nice moderate size. fills the wheel wells just enough, as well as tire pricing [not to mention rims]. Its always been a personal pref to stay 18" range on most of my cars I've had. dunno why, just fits nicely. not too big, not too small.

ive tried to STFF but to avail, nothin. well at least nothing for my pref. its all 19"/20".

You should be fine with that size and offset without rolling as long as you choose the right tire. As far as rolling the fenders go I do it with a fender roller and heat gun..the paint will not get damaged if it is done correctly. I have even pulled fenders about 10-15mm before without having to worry about the paint. It's all about patience...take your time, and be careful.

defientely must be patient. for me this is something that i want to do right and not look half assed. you just dont do that to mercedes. lol thanks. ill lhave to look up procedures and whatnot. trying to figure out if theres a small gap from the rear quater panel to the rear bumper, on the end of the wheel-well. like if the bumper would petrude into the wheel-well or not. sorry for bein a 'dit deh duh' [carlos mencia], but i've heard about rollin fenders, just never seen it done or the process. although i ran across one vague posting late last nite.

"Rolling" the fenders can be done 1 of 2 ways. NG C-Klasse is talking about the longer, but more proficient way.

A lot and/or most of the shops out there don't bother to go through all that and will just trim the inside of the fender. If done properly, it is just as clean a process and rubbing can be avoided.

Drex, for full suspension packages, you should list the Eibach Pro-Kit, and show the tirerack site as where to get it from. Ditto for Eibach sway bars. Where's the love? Good thread overall, though.

You're right, tommy. I did this thread a while ago, but now that I've got the means to edit...your wish is my command, bro!...LOL.

Knocking sound!

I got my Tein Basic CO installed a couple weeks ago and I have noticed this knocking sound from inside the car. Do you guys have any ideas what is this sound?

I know Drex had the same problem a while ago.Did you solve this problem? What did you do? In my car, it happened on front passanger side when turning to the right only and also, on the rear right side when going over some bumps. The knocking sound wasn't that loud, but it just bothers me.

I have had a slight knocking sound from the front driver side suspension since I got the car (had TEIN's installed the same day), but figured it was a bushing, loose control/thrust arm or something. When I took it in to the dealer to have it checked, they said they wouldn't touch the suspension because I had aftermarket parts. The sound I've heard is a hollow knock when driving on bumpy roads. I never hear anything during regular freeway or surface street driving. Hope it's not a blown shock bottoming out, but since it's been there from day one, I figure that's unlikely.

Same here, I never heard anything when driving on the freeway. It happened only on bumpy roads and when I did a full turn to the right (ONLY to the right!). I don't think I will take my car in to the dealership tho.I know I will get the same words like you did from them.

Did you solve the problem yet? What are you going to do to fix it?

BTW, you car looks really low in the rear? I have mine at the lowest setting in the rear, but it is still high! Did you take off your springs pads? or perhaps the perches(IDK if it's the right word..)?

spring pads should've been taken off on the rear.

Next time I have a chance I'll take my car to CarLAB in Santa Clara, CA and have Darwin look at it. He knows the W203 suspension inside and out, so I'm pretty confident he'll be able to diagnose the problem. Hopefully it's nothing major. The rear on mine is at the lowest setting, with nothing "extra" done to make it lower. The tread is tucked.

Perhaps, yours is coupe and mine is sedan.IDK ,just guessing. Mine is really high on the rear, well it is still new. It has been driven for only 100 KMs since the COs were installed. We'll see.

BTW,Your car looks really nice and clean, loving it and the ride must be OK too, right? You only put 18's on the car. To be honest, I regretted my decision to buy 19's for my car. It is just not a good combination 19's and COs in terms of ride quality for me

Seemed to be solved when I tightened my swaybars. Once that was done, no more knocking.

Thanks for the compliments. Wheel size was not even a question for me since the roads I drive on for work are awful. 18" was the maximum I could go without worrying too much about bending my wheels or blowing out tires. The ride isn't as "comfy" as stock, but I prefer the lower ride height, improved handling, responsive feel with the TEIN's.

For reference, here is a picture of my sedan with TEIN Basic c/o's and the rear wasn't even all the way down.

I know I have looked! The drop in your car and Frank's are nice.It looks like covering up all the wheel gap.It is just so clean and perfect for my taste. However, mine is nothing like yours or Frank's tho. I believe I have ALMOST 2 fingers gap all around.

Anyway,I am sorry for posting my problem in your thread Drex!

The rear can be lower if they left the spring pads on. Shouldn't be using the spring pads if you have coilovers.
