Unhappy Got to an accident today

After a long day of work, I was on my way to home. I got to a red light city car (Ford Taurus) in front of me. The light goes green everyone is moving. The car infront of me moves foward and then out of no where slams on the brakes. I rear ended him. There was no damage to the city car but my car the front bumper and hood got dented, my cl grill broke, my clear passenger sidefoglamp (recently installed about a week an half ago) broke (dont know how).

The county sheriff did not give me a ticket (because I have "Florida Athletic League" plates. So the cop cut me some slack.)

I called my insurance and I have an appointment for someone to give me an estimate and give me a check on Monday at 2:30. So I'm going early in the morning to the dealer to give me an estimate for the damage.

I have $1,000 deductible on my insurance policy so I'm trying to convince the insurance person so I can get little bit more.

Does anyone know an estimate how much is for a new front bumper, clear foglamps (I got mine from ebay for $120), the expression cl grill and the original grill and repaint the hood and bumper from the dealer??

Here's some pics but the pics but it does not show much the damage like in person

Thanks for anyones replies

You want an at-fault wreck on your insurance history for 5 years? You want your insurance premiums to go up? You didn't plan on causing this wreck. What happens if you accidentallycause another one 6 months from now? What if the damage to other other car AND driver is much worse? How many at-fault wrecks do you think your insurance will accept before they drop you? If the damage is even close to your deductable, you'd be CRAZY to make an insurance claim AGAINST yourself!!!!!!!!!! Ask your agent to forget you ever spoke to them, pay to fix your own and move on!

Holy sh*t.... Go see your insurance agent in person, give him 100$ so he can "forget" you ever called and fix this yourself.... this will cost you 2x or 3x as much in the long run then it would if you pay for the repair.... damn... 1000$ deductable too

I'm thinking $12,000.
That should make you feel better.

i'd imagine the estimate will be under 1k...
the accident i got into with a loaner was under 1k to fix at the dealer and the rim was bent, messed up fender, and more...

You guys are right. I looked at it this morning and its not that bad. Actually I can repair it myself. I'll just have to remove front bumber to align it.

I'm still taking the car to the dealership on monday to see if they can do it and depending how much is it I'll make them do it or I'll do it myself and I'll call my insurance to tell them that I'll pay it myself.

Does anyone have any pics on how to remove the front bumper??

Thanks again.

The license plate "Florida Athletic League" that you have isn't what cut you some slack. Any one can get one of those license plates and non of the money goes into the police fund. Now if you had a "SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT " license plate then I might see some slack cut because the donations go into a police fund to support their union. The only reason you didn't get a ticket is because the car you hit had no damage. It cracks me up how many people get the "Florida Athletic League" license plate and think cops will cut them some slack for it. Any way, i'm glad you were ok and hope the car gets fixed real soon.

pictures like this just break my heart , but anyway, $1000 deductible!!! christ almighty! listen to the other guys, convince your insurance company that you calling them was just a dream, and you should be able to fix everything for less than $1000, good luck and keep us updated

btw-did anything happen to your BiX?
