05 C230 phase1 makeover complete....(pics)
For a bit of history, when BMW started to sell 320s in the same year as both 2.0L engines and 1.8L engines in the 80s, they got into a whole boatload of trouble about false advertising. I wonder why that doesn't apply here. If it is a 1.8 K, make the car a C180.

As long as they are telling you that they have different engines, I don't see how this would be false advertising (even in the BMW's situation). There are many other brands of cars that offer different engine options under the same model name. Although there are relationships by MB and BMW between the brand name and the engine, one does not officially define the other.
the C230 gets more power out of the lower (spinny thingy ... rounds per minute? ; sorry im german *g) than a C180

Does that make me a de-poser?
In Australia there is no C230K so a lot of people ask me about conversion of a C180K into a C230K.
Why ? Why is my C180 called a C180 with a 2L engine in it. It's 90% lineage and 10% marketing.

Certainly I dont recall ever hearing about an M271 version of the 230K in Australia. I would really like to see that and get the VIN.
That is why in the M271 series the 180K uses different pistons to the 230K and a different blower.
Tuning to me suggests some kind of power curve adjustment in the ECU. That's only part of the story. There are some real nuts and bolts changes.

We don't get defensive. We go on the "offensive" and blast them for what a wanna-be they are! I laugh at people that try to ADVERTISE anything they have as something else. They really are pathetic. I've seen people that put an Escalade grille w/ emblem on Chevy/GMC pick-ups WAY before they made Escalade pick-ups. Of course anyone is FREE to put an friggin emblem they want to on their truck/car. That goes without saying! The point is that many people thinks it ridiculous and pretentious, but it's not like we're losing any sleep over these sad people's dumb decisions
I got bored around page 7, but Dinan, Renntech and others require a level of tune before you badge the car.. why? At a certain point it isn't a MB anymore. Why do tuners have to remove the tri-star from marketing material?
Why, because tuners are tuners, the single mod and bodykits don't represent their program. The car is not "AMG Tuned" no matter if MB borrowed parts from the AMG parts bin and AMG body parts were installed. Period.
I read about e46fanatics... put a ///M badge on a 325 and post pics over there and see what happens.
Sap- The AMG Coupe... this man has taken on the challenge of completely converting his coupe to a replica of the Europe only AMG C32 Coupe sold by AMG as a special car. He has done more trick mods than you could think of. And yes, he's been made fun of before, including by myself until people realized how dedicated he was. He's done more than add a AMG body kit.
Vadim's sig??? Are you newb's kidding? A mod is a modification!!!! Aero wiper conversion or Kleemann pulley, it's listed so if others are considering it, they know they can contact him to find out about it.
I have as much AMG suspension components I could get my hands on for my C230 Coupe less what is aftermarket. There is no way I would consider running the AMG badge even with a full body kit without the C32/C43/C55 motor or with serious intent of doing the motor.
Could we be any more childish? The AMG badge says "AMG Tuned" to other enthusiasts... yes, it is misleading to others, if not only that some people know an AMG car is ~60k, and you have their badge on a 30k car. Let alone how bad some M3 is going to romp you at a light and brag on e46 how bad he smoked a AMG.

Johnny-come-lately, that pic taint me. Appreciate the genuine concern though

I tend to favor white modded MB's
