i think i have a solution for you all. i didn't read any of the earlier posts, but if i did, whoops. leave the plate off, if you get pulled over, tell the cop that u got into an accident and that you're waiting for the dealer to order the new bracket. worked for my friend. i thought of it after i destroyed my front-end in an accident. even better is if you can find pics of a similar looking car that's been wrecked in the front and then you can show it to him. make sure everythin sort of matches up. use at your own disgression. i'm not going to say it always works, but always worth a shot.

Quote: Prost got to retire, Senna (his successor as he became the "it" after Prost retirement) sadly died not even racing... (accident at the race track, practice laps??... something like it... I am sure Mr Formula 1 has the beans and can correct me on my inaccuracies)

Cheers!

Wiedermann
Negative, he died in 1994, on a Sunday, on Monza Italy, during the actual race. I was 13 years old and watching it live. It was truely a sad moment

I watched the San Marino GP live, as well. I even have it videotaped.

Wiederman, you need to study some F1 history before pronouncing Senna and Alain Prost the "only" legends. Predecessors Jimmy Clark, Nicki Lauda and Jackie Stewart were just as masterful. And I'm neglecting a few obvious drivers from the 50's and 60's who were equally talented... Fangio, Moss, Surtees, G. Hill, etc., not to mention today's undeniable Michael Schumacher, who was the true successor to Senna, winning the title the very year Senna died, and not looking back since.

Senna was a brilliant driver, but occassionally exhibited moments of arrogant recklessness. A certain season finale at Suzuka comes to mind...

OK, we really should pull this one back on topic...

Mr. Wiedermann was young once ????

Quote: How much does a "fix it" ticket cost? It used to be free, but i've heard that they no longer do that. And that they actually charge a fee now for a "fix it" ticket.
I can tell you that in San Diego County, the bail for a fix-it citation is $140.
However, if you get it "fixed" and signed off by any police officer, then all you pay is a $10 court fee by mail.

Front license plates are the hot topic no matter which police department you talk to. as drex stated, the red light cameras are the reason for this. Being a police officer for the last 10 years, I can tell you that the vehicle code states that the license plates must be securely attached to the bumpers. Yes that means you will have to somehow permanently mount them. If they can easily be pulled from the car by hand, they are not securely attached. So for all you enthusiasts out there, that means drilling or cementing the license plates to the bumper. (Personally, I prefer the drilling option)

Personally, I hate the rule, but I must comply because they frequently do audits in the police station parking lot to see if officers are in compliance as well. So ya, it sucks, but we lilve in California and those are the rules. If you don't like them, then move to Arizona.....lol

Take a look at my front license plate: http://serpentewheel.no.sapo.pt/c220...port_coupe.htm

I bougth a MB license plate holder, only 2 small holes needed in the bumper, and if done rigth, are almost not visible.
I also glued the license plate to the holder with 2 side scotch tape, not any holes in the license plate, it have a clean front

The same in my station:

Old thread but good post seeing it's coming from "one of them"

It's very interesting that officers are having to ticket other officers for this silly rule.

As for me I have been cited twice for this; once while entering a military base and the other from the highway patrol.

Is the same rule of a "misdemeanor violation if not complied with " written and enforced in states like C.A. ? (this is what the "fix-it" ticket here has preprinted on it)

i hate front license plates and drilling into the front bumper and my dealership personally doesn't like the look either. so when i bought my car my salesperson gave me license plate backing frame, an actual mb part, and gave me a story if i ever got pulled over.

she said, "i already got pulled over and the dealer gave me this license plate frame and im getting it colored matched my car tomorrow."

In response to the suggested reply by your dealer, I can tell you that when I hear that or something to that effect, I and many of my colleagues will still write the ticket "to ensure that you do in fact get it taken care of".

Just food for thought

It's not that other officers are ticketing each other, it's police supervision initiating discipline on officers who don't comply with their own vehicles.

With regard to compliance, it is a misdemeanor to not take care of any citation (fix it or otherwise) and it turns into an arrest warrant.

In my country, many ferrari & maserati onwers use a type of scotch tape license plate, they only have to paste it on the front bumper, no holes needed and it adquires the contours of the bumper
I will try to find a pic of a car with that license plate, not usual to see one, I think only the ferrari dealer (only 1 in portugal) makes this license plates

Hahaha...hey, I was just tryin' to help everybody out. I mean, for those that are bothered by having their front license plate showing for asthetic reasons, this is an option...LOL...

But I do have to say, the last Miata looks WAY better than this older model.

By gay, I'm assuming you dont like the law, anyways, while the law may be "gay", it's still the law and it doesn't mean that I agree with it, but I will continue to enforce it as long as it keeps my bosses off my back and the days off that I want (Cheers!)

Also, I'm not questioning "Carlos" as a person, just his remark.
