W203/CL203 TICKETED "for not having a front plate" Thread
I noticed from alot of pictures posted that Mercedes look much cleaner without having the license plate on the front bumper.
Especially where I live in California, police love to ticket for these little tickey tack items.
Do you guys take the risk of a fix it ticket for aesthetics? Is it worth it.

I'm in Ca. and I take the chance. My understanding is that you won't get stopped just for missing the plate....but if you're stopped for anything they write up the missing plate. I've tried to figure out a way to attach the plate without putting two holes in the bumper so in case I do have to affix it I can remove it without leaving holes.

I got tagged twice in Illinois for no front plate, and was stopped for no other reason on one of the occasions. I solved the whole problem by moving to another state...

I've gotten a warning in MO. Would have gotten a ticket had I not had the (front) plate in the trunk. It's important to be able to show that your missing plate isn't pulling double duty on the rear-end of another car, somewhere. So, if you intend to go without a front plate, I strongly suggest you at least have it in the car to show, just in case... Make sense?

Got that fix it ticket once with my GTI, put the plate on and went to have an officer signed the ticket and paid $12. mail in the signed ticket and took the plate off.

Yup, I've gotten it many times. At least 4 times in the last year, in various cities around the San Gabriel Valley. By various police agencies (CHP, Sheriff, city police).
Got them while the car was parked on the street. Also got pulled over for them (cop never mentioned my lowered car or exhaust, so I'll gladly take the missing front plates).

In Va the rules are kinda sketchy... i believe it says that if you have a holder, then you must have a front plate..but if you don't have a holder, then it's cool..but you do get a warning about it and should get it put in.
My friends all don't have front plates on their cars and they get away with it because they have no place to mount the plate...

i got a ticket a long time ago (when i was younger than accord). i bought the car in ventura county (no front plate necessary) and got the ticket in downtown LA at a block party... they were pulling people left and right and handing out tickets for all kinds of crap. had to go to court to prove that i had ordered another plate (by showing the judge the dmv order form) but i never put it on.

Out Of Control!!
I got a ticket for not having a front plate. It was a simple fix-it ticket. I used 3 pieces of double-sided tape to hold the plate on while I was at the CHP office getting it signed off. Good thing it didn't take long... 2 of the pieces of tape fell off about 5 minutes after I left!

I guess I have been fairly lucky....I have not been ticketed for not having a front plate....lived in CA and IL where they both require front plates. Have been pulled over in both states for other reasons and not have been given an additional ticket for not having the front plate. Now live in AZ...it is not a factor. I have never liked the looks of having front plates.

I live in Cincinnati, and since I am so close to KY and IN, ( which I guess do not require a front plate) I can get away with it. I am a little worried about when I go North to visit friends or family however.
I really don't want to drill my bumper.

i got a ticket for no front plate in downtown la. i wasn't speeding or anything. I drive with the plate on now, since my windows are tinted and i don't want to give them a reason to pull me over.

Got Pulled for Front Plates
Though I wasn't driving my C, I was pulled over solely for the fact that I didn't have my front license plates. The cop slapped me with a weak fix it ticket, but i was lucky that he didn't catch my front tinted windows. So be prepared when in California...I was in LA around Sunset BLVD!!!

When I was in my 20s I drove around Sillycon valley for 1.5 years before any cop even made me put ANY plates on my truck I had at the time.
I just kept them in the car in the envelope, never installed 'em, and well finally someone wrote me up for it. But for all that time, it was quite amusing since they really couldn't enforce any parking tickets or anything without the plates on the car...he he...
and once in 23 years of driving in CA did I get pulled over for the front plate, in Santa Clara. Put it on, got is signed off by Los Gatos PD,who asked who wrote me up for it (as in like which city would even bother), removed it in the LGPD parking lot as the cop was walking away.
Dumbasses at the dealership DRILLED HOLES in the bumper to mount the plate, which I promptly removed on purchase.Arrgh. HOLES! DRILLED!
Tried to fill them with touch up paint.

My dealership drilled holes in our S600 and stuck a fat advertisement on it, we made them replace the bumper, I suggest you do the same.
