How does this work?

I bought an '05 C230k back in June. I have a couple of investment opportunities coming up and I want to sell it. I still owe money on my loan so how will I be able to sell it privately? If I have to I will go to another dealer and get a less expensive car. Do you guys think I can get another dealership to payoff my loan and sell me another car at a reasonable price. I'm thinking of getting something simple like a camry or accord. I called MBCredit but they were already closed.

You are better off selling your car yourself instead of trading it in. The dealership will lowball you. Hopefully you owe less than what the payoff on your car is, therefore you will have some money to put down on a less expensive car. Good luck!

Doesn't look good...

Selling an almost year old car will be a money loser. You still need to make your loan payments or pay it off completely. You know how much you owe so do the math based on at least 25% depreciation (SWAG). Mileage, condition of the car, and options will either help or hurt you.

You should be able to sell it privately, or use it as a trade in. Either way, you are still responsible for the balance of the loan. If you owe more on the car than you sell it for (upside down), you will be required to either pay it off, or roll the balance into another loan (not recommended); For instance, if you buy a $20,000 car, and you are upside down by $5,000 on the first car. You can get a loan for $25,000 on the second car.

As pointed out, most likely you will get more money by selling it privately, but you are sure to lose quite a bit on it.

Sell it privately! Revstriker is right, you may lose out either way...but you lose less if you do it on your own. Hopefully you'll be able to find a buyer who would pay your asking price if not more! But that's the advantage you may have selling privately compared to a dealer!

Good Luck!!
