Yeah, you know, all the engine management software and everything. They release new software updates all the time. bug fixes, increased performance, etc.

I had the first one done about 1 month ago... since this was related (ie, they didn't go a good job with the alignment to begein with) they are doing it at no cost.

ok, just dropped the car off. the service writer tried to charge me $200 for the alignment! i'm like woah there buddy you're not charging me for jack. he checked with his manager and they confirmed, within 12,000 miles the first alignment is free. he also said he would try to kill the seatbelt chime, didn't have a problem making the change at this point. we'll see if they can actually get rid of it or not.
i got an automatic 2005 c240 for a loaner, it's painfully slow!!

But they only do it if exists some problem or only if necessary? or they do it even if not necessary, I doubt??

6. How do you use the PTY function on the radio? I can’t find a button for it.
9. How much is it to install the Aux Input cable for the radio? Also how much is just the cable alone, not installed?

The PTY function light up the second from the left soft key when you select SAT and have the factory Sirius receiver. PTY selects program groups like rock, sports, talk, news ect.

The AUX input cable is "Cable harness" A203 540 61 07 and sells for $28.50. You punch out a knockout in the right side of the glovebox. Pull off the cover on the right side of the dash with the passenger door open. Remove one screw from the passenger kick panel. Pull up the right door sill plastic cover. Push the 1/8" minijack into the glovebox from the outside. Dress the cable down to the sill behind the kick panel. Fish out the matching white connector for the AUX input in the wiring channel. Connect to the new harness. Replace everything neatly and completely. Any analog audio source that comes on a miniplug goes in the jack. To listen to AUX input turn on the radio, press and hold the CDC button 'till the display says "AUX INPUT". Takes about a second.

Took 20 minutes to install 'cause I stopped to enjoy an adult beverage halfway through.

oh PTY is only for satellite? the bmw had it for FM, oh well. I remember seeing that Aux cable install thread on here awhile back with some pics too. since I don't have to plug anything in behind the radio that install would be very easy. I think i'll do it myself! Thanks

update:
alignment was done.
headlight switch was determined to be defective, new one needed to be ordered from germany and it is supposed to be backlit so they will call me when it's in. FYI the 2005 c240 loaner also had a defective backlight, i guess the factory screwed them all up.
questions 3-8 were all no, not possible. the aux cable their tech doesn't know about, i gave them the part number and they said it doesn't even say what vehicles it's for so i'll just do that myself.
there were no software updates to be installed.
the no phone message is disabled, the alarm chirp is enabled and the seatbelt chime he gave me the usual "saftey regulations" speech and couldn't change it.

post a picture of the backlight situation, I want to know what you are talking about.

Firgures that with the seatbelt... wish I could get my fingers on that program they use, so I can do it myself.

PS: ctC230K, no offence, but your new signature is driving me nuts... lol

I went to pick up my car today at the dealer and for the first time they washed the car and cleaned up the interior, it looks like a new car

And best of all, after a to do list (a big one) they didn't charge anything

I LOVE THE FACTORY WARRANTY :p

yep the alignment fixed it!
i'm surprised the service people haven't called me yet to tell me the switch is in, it's been a week tomorrow. i guess they just threw it on the boat with the cars, maybe i'll get it in a month.

yeah that seatbelt program is like $10,000 a month to lease i heard. my service writer said if i can get my hands on the computer and program i could do it myself but they can't do it for me.
and if you press the escape key after the page is loaded the animations will stop.

Update: They installed the new headlight switch and it still isn't backlit yet other 2005 C-Class sedans do have a backlit switch.
They ran all diagnostics and no problems are detected. The car has to go back another day for them to spend more time on it. Stupid backlight!
