Ah I dont know what to do...!!!?!?

Ok guys, well I got back from a few dealerships today and sat in an 04 C230K ss and an 05 c230K ss and my parents (who are going to be the funders for the car) told me no new car..just cant. Dunno why But I sat in the 04 and it was black on black and had the moonroof and auto tranny. It was used with 13k miles and asking was $31k. So I find an 05 with black on black also, moonroof, auto, and lighting package (what i really like) and it was new and they were asking $34k.... So I told my dad and I tried telling him how the 05s were re-done inside and i really did like the inside of the 05s more too...it was more updated personally but I just cant seen to budge them for the 05 since its brand new. I searched all over and couldnt find one with any sort of miles on it already you know, but no bueno. What I want to know is will I be missing out on anything special with the 04 if thats the one I will be getting since its used rather than the 05? Its hard for me cuz I just like the layout more with the 05s...any help or ANY reassurance would and is MUCH appreciated. BTW will 20s be too big on the c?

Just $3k difference...get the 05! I dont know which 04 you saw..I am assuming is the 04.5, if its not you will miss out a lot. 05 has AMG kit, oval tip, lowered suspensions, clear mirror blinker, cross-drilled rotor w/ bigger brake caliper, lot better looking interior (oh I love the white cluster lights), also the 04 you were looking at has no bixenon (you may ended up spending another $1k on the bix later). The only good thing about the 04 is they have free maintainence (free oil change, etc), other than that there is nothing special about them. If I were you I will stick with the 05, tell your parents you will pay the $3k...hahah

so you have problems buying a new car that's only $3k more than a used car, but you want to waste $4k on some gaudy rims? that's some great logic.

31k for an '04 is robbery. I assume your parents are pushing a used car for value reasons, and an '04 at that price certainly doesn't have that. If you find an '05 you like on the lot, you can knock some $ off, maybe get close to invoice. For a used one, as you have witnessed, dealers make lots more $ on those cars, and will price them much higher than they should be to begin. Some people negotiate hard, others don't. Talk about the '05's value compared to a used car for slightly more with your parents using the comparisons people have made already.

Qualify this more. If you're a DCX employee you get 12+% and are entilted to any and all incentives. Direct MBUSA employees get even more.

the gaudy taste refers to the 20's

anyway...

A, way to much for an 04
B, you are stupid not to take the 05 for that difference
C, you deserve a cheap POS car for working your parents like this

Here we go, another gangsta 'kid' with a mommy/daddy car.

haha I have a job...actually im a student still in high school and actually have 2 part time jobs bro. Sorry, and Im not 'working my parents'...they offered for me to look into another car due to my transportation needs and the c230k ss has awesome gas mileage too and is a sedan so i checked it out and it was great. My father even was very pleased with the decision of the benz. Im not working anyone, just trying to look for the best long term investment on my part and for theirs as well. And im not gangsta- i pay for isht for my car too...they're here to HELP out for now, then its my job to make payments to them etc. Damn dont be envious of someone who is fortunate to have parents like I do, but respect me cuz I do work- and hard and also dont take advantage of what is handed to me....

BOT though...I guess getting an 05 is just out of the question because in the $30k+ range is too much for me. So there is no way Im going to beable to get an 05 due to its price....so looks like im going to have to piece together those bixenon lights aftermarket and everything. Sooooo tell me the good news about the pre 05s now haha since thats what im for sure getting now!

Just because you didn't get one, don't be hating on others. My parents bought me a benz, and I'm thankful to them, and don't show off like those "gangstaz". The way "The Bossman" has brought forth this thread and discussion, I don't suspect he's that type; he's just another student who was lucky enough to be able to get such a car, and there's no reason if his parents can afford it, that he shouldn't get the car. Some kids are "spoiled," but that's not usually always the case. Some parents, if they can afford it, would like to buy their children good cars, so it shouldn't raise jealousy like this.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
Hey Bossman!

You need to determine the price of the car before you talk to the dealer. Edmunds.com posts the "invoice" on the car along with the MSRP. The invoice is what the dealer pays for the car, but not his final price. Most every dealer gets 3% of the MSRP as holdback from the factory when the car is sold, if you give him all excellent on a satisfaction survey from MBUSA he gets an additional 2% of msrp. From time to time the factory gives the dealer "incentives" to sell cars. There are none at the moment on C class, but that might change at the end of the 10 day selling period, Recent incentives on C class have been about 3,000. That is cash to the dealer, he can take that off the price. The dealer can also make the "delivery" fee, about 700 bucks, go away.

The BiXenon lights are much safer than other lighting systems (proven in years of highway data from Europe) and are cheap when factory installed. It is almost double to install them aftermarket, and you seldom get the washer system.

The 04 you are looking at is over priced. Keep in mind that the depreciation will take a big hit in a couple of months when the 06's come out. The dealer must price the used cars higher, because he gets no holdback from anyone, like he does on a new car.

The four oil changes on the 04 are an advantage, but its not worth more than a few hundred dollars.

Downtown LA Motors and House of Imports have huge inventories of these cars, and if one won't deal, the other will.

At the very least, be sure to take Mr. Rizzo's advice and get a cars direct quote.

If you want low profile tires on 20's, you should get them. They will look fine. Keep in mind the performance of the car might suffer, and those tires have a very short life even when babied. How do I know? I have experience. I have made every poor choice of wheels and tires on my cars when I was a teenager in search of fashion.

If it is the 04.5, you are not missing much. If it is the O4, then you are missing the upgrade suspension and upgraded trim. You will get the fee maintenance with either 04 which is worth something. 31K is way too much for either 04. You should be able to get the 05 for 31 - 32K with only a sun roof and auto.

didn't finish reading all of these posts, but i got my 2004.5 brand new (sun roof package, 6 CD changer, automatic tranny, heated seats, 60/40 split rear seats) for $31K OTD. dont even consider buying it used for that much.

you should look into an Acura TSX or used Acura TL (new body style). you can get them with navigation for the same price as the benz (great value IMO) unless of course you're dead set on gettin MB.

Don't even bother with the 04.

Get the 05.

If you can't get the 05, might as well take any year prior, get the cheapest in good condition, and stick the rest into some nice rims and paying off your insurance.

Better yet, since Mommy and Daddy are funding this little funship, get a used C32. They won't know the difference. And the resale is horrible on them, so you can get one for a decent price...I'm sure less than the 05/04 C230SS.

You should just go buy the Accord then. Both cars are little more than gussied up Accords. If he is indeed concerned with "value" then the Accord is the better value...same performance, cheaper, and better resale. Big Acuras have horrible resale.

i do financial services, life insurance, and group benefits packages for MetLife. not sure what the discount numbers are or if they were that high. best deals we get are on all Fords, so i looked at the X-type, but the C class was alot nicer IMO.

haha you dont know my parents then. They arent stupid, my dad is a huge car guy and loves his exotics etc. He had an AMG G wagen and he definately knows what the ///AMG on the back means. The factor of me getting a 'new' car is really all about the gas mileage it gets. But I agree id love to have a C32 instead even if it was an '03 or something

If gas milage is a factor, call Evan at Toyota in Hollywood, he has a few Prius electrododads in stock. They get 55 miles per gallon, and all the style of Doc Martens on your grandmother.

I do hope you get what you want!

Gov Arnold tools around in a ///AMG G wagen, is your dad a republican too?
