That only aplies to pre-'05 W203's. In '05 W203's the rain sensor and light sensor are built into one unit with a single plug.

LOL, haven't heard that one since the first grade. i'm gonna have to disagree with you on this though. i've used Rain X in my past 3 cars and have yet to have a problem. i did notice an occasional skipping with my infiniti when it wasn't raining heavy, otherwise, even with the bmw, i haven't had any squeaking or any other annoyances with it.

Skipping yes, that's what I was going for (sqeaking was the wrong term, sorry). It was late, I was tired...nuff said. I haven't noticed a difference in wiping interval with/without using Rain-X. Good luck with finding a fix :-)

I used to drive a 1980s Toyota Corona and the wiping interval (adjustable from 1 sec to 10 secs) on the first click could be manually varied by turning the control stalk. That was most useful .

...01 C240, same problem, hyperactive rainscence. dealer replaced problematic sensor, they are fine now, maybe even a little slow. We'll see if i can get another 35,000 miles out of the new sensor. Going in for 3rd set of fuel level senders though, next time it $600 for me.

i've used Rain-X spray on window cleaner and Rain-X wipes to clean my windshield and have noticed no differences. my auto-wipers have always worked perfectly and i love'em!

I find that solution ridiculous. Why should the driver have MORE work to do in the rain when you're paying extra for "upgraded" wipers?

That is all I do as well. Then again I do not need a clean windshield everytime one or two drops hits it.... I normally let the water collect so I do not get annoyed by the dry swipe or not enough water on the window swipe that squeaks like crazy!

My rain sensors come as standard.
It is really annoying for me.
During slight rain, just a teeny bit of acceleration can cause the wipers to swing like mad.

Another problem is because my wipers squeak very loudly. If my wipers aren't noisy, probably I won't be annoyed.
I don't have RainX, I am not sure if the squeaking is caused by the Mequiar's car shampoo (I don't use that shampoo on the windscreen but they may have overflowed over it during washing).

I know this is an old thread... I found it using search.

My 02 C240's auto-sensing was working fine, almost too fine.

I replaced the windshield with another OEM one due to a crack, and the new windshield came with a sensor. Of course in sunny CA it just started to rain a few weeks ago, and I am noticing the same thing: in a slight drizzle while the other one would have functioned perfectly, this one just keeps going and going, no different than the ON (low) mode. It sometimes works fine, but mostly works constantly.

I was hoping that I would find out here how to change the sensitivity (like turning a screw or something on the unit), but I guess I am stock with a bad sensor.

Any ideas from anyone??
