CLK Navigation COMAND in a C-Class?

Would a DVD COMAND from a 2005 CLK fit in a 2005 C-Class? They look about the same, and seems like it would fit. Can anyone confirm?

They'll fit but...the upper edges on both sides are a bit wider than the CLK's NAV, thus a little gap. Here's a pic from mbdoctor demonstrating that issue:

<rant> hmm...why would MBZ to that? You would think they would want to keep the cost down by just producing one COMAND for the C and CLK, since they are virtually identical. But nooooo, they have to go and make two almost the same, but not quite the same COMANDs. And why is it that at mbdoctor.com, the C COMAND is 500.00 more than the CLK COMAND, when the only difference is the size? Oh well. </rant>

yes not to many of this command it is a little bigger then the CLK command i think they should have made the same commands in the C class or CLK if you really think it is a job guaranty for some one so they had to built a different command so we will have more work to do that's a shame

As has been correctly noted, yes, it will fit nicely, except for the small gaps on each side. I have seen it installed in person in a C-Class, and it really does not look bad at all; your average passenger will not notice it. (I think his pic does reflect that fact pretty accurately).

Check with MBDOCTOR.COM and he may give you a good deal on one of these CLK US DVD COMAND units, assuming, of course, he still has got it in stock. For the price, it is the ultimate c-class toy and the gaps may be just a small compromise.

My 2 Cents.

Because when Mercedes designed the two cars, they did use the same COMAND. But there was a wood trim piece around the COMAND that would make the same size COMAND fit into any dash they wanted it to fit. So the CLK gets a narrower (sportier?) dash than the C-class, and the wood piece took up the space. Now that the COMAND takes nearly the full width of the dash opening, there's no room for a trim piece, so the difference in size must be accounted for by the COMAND faceplate.

Which is pretty much the reason that every car now needs a different COMAND (except the obvious duplicates, like E & CLS, and cars that were designed AFTER the COMAND so that the dash opening could be properly sized).
