Unhappy dealer says NO to Bi-X and Neatherland settings... where can i go?(socal)

well i did my 1k-3k check up and asked the service man if i can have the Bi-X installed. He said it was not possible and would require a whole new wiring harness, lights, ballasts, bulbs, ignigtors, sensors, ect...ect... I told him about people on here that have done it and it is plug and play. He told me not to believe what i read on the net. So i went to the parts department to buy the lights and just install them my self and have them set the computer for Bi-X.. the parts department guy said the lights were $1400 Each! So that was out... then i went and talked to my service guy about turning my computer to netherlands to have my alarm beep, he told me he could not do that because they would get in truble... so i could not even get that done

well.. Im in socal (riverside) any one know of any shops i can go to and the Bi-X installed and the netherland put on? im willing to drive but not super far. i will go to LA or SD so basicly 1-2hour drive.

any one know of any shops? or is that nice gentleman every one raves about (steve?) in socal now?

thanks..

PS... I got my car tinted

my dealer is walters in riverside. its a great dealer, real nice people, good service ( we have bought 5 MB's through them) but i guess if your changing something on the car thats out side the norm, they dont want to do it. The service rep was a cool guy, he asked me if i knew something he didnt know about the car lol. well when i get the Bi-X installed ill bring it down there and show him, he said he gets asked about the Bi-X a lot. so eh... i just want it done and would perfer to have MB do it just incase i have any problems i dont get an aftermarket shop saying they dont warr. the items.

House of Imports will do it, its not that far from you. Not sure if they will charge you though. You can find out by calling 1-800-mercedes and ask for Bill Chow

Why don't you just order the parts (bi-xenon) through Steve (MBenzNL) and pay him to install it the next trip he makes to O.C. (Orange County)?

If you read on this board, they are NOT as simple as a "plug and play" install. Keep in mind, you're going from Halogen to Xenon (and bi-xenon at that), so it's not a simple job of taking out the halogen headlamps and putting in the bi-xenon headlamps.

I'm not surprised at all that the dealer said it was $1,400 per side. What part isn't over priced at a dealership?

Use the "advanced search" for MBenzNL (username) and also check out Steve's website http://mbenznl.com

netherlands setting is not out of the norm. its a feature in your car that can be enabled. its not a big deal. my dealer didnt have a problem doing it, but i provided the instructions for the techs since they had no idea how to do it. try Penske Claremont, the techs are good there and they dont hassle about hooking up the comp for stuff like that. my SA is Pete Dinoto. also as long as you buy the headlights and install them, they will set xenon to present for you.

PM me if you have any questions.

How can I make my C230 alarm "chirp" when armed/disarmed?

At the dealer, using the MB factory handheld laptop tester, go into the car's computer system.
Go into Programs
Locate the Rear SAM Program
Locate Body
Select Netherlands
Now the car does a "chirp, chirp, chirp" when locking/arming and a single chirp when unlocking/disarming

Hahhaha impossible?? Prior to installing my Bix I took my car to House of Imports, they are cool ...they helped set Xenon to present...then came home swapped my (ugly) halogen with the new Bix, and oh yes it was simply "PLUG N PLAY". Boom they fire right up...no problem whatsoever...I have no idea why your dealer is giving you all that bull *****. A new wiring harness?- nope, new lights/ballasts/bulbs/ignitors..blah blah blah...they are all included in the Bix unit itself...the stock harness plug right into the Bix unit...you wont have the auto leveling feature since your car did not come with the Bix...but other than that...it is "PLUG N PLAY" for God sake.

everyone calling it a chirp is very misleading, it's actually a BEEP sound, three beeps and signal light flashes on arm, one beep and signal light flash on disarm. also you lose the panic button function with this mod but i'd rather know my car is locked without having to watch the signal lights every time i lock it.

My SA in MBSD didnt want to change it too. She even BS-ing that changing this setting will void my warranty and I told her that my car's warranty will expired soon and she just bla bla bla...I just know that she was a bad SA.

CitronC230K_03: did you pay them when you change to netherlands setting? If yes, how much? Could you hook me up with your SA? How long do you think it will take to change the setting? I dont mind to drive up to clairemont to have them change to netherlands cos my car has dark and metallic window tint and I always has to go back to make sure it was locked.

Thanks in advance

That's what I thought when the SA said it wil void my warranty. She's just BS. I dont understand why she even has the certificate that said she already passed the Maybach training....

Btw, I dont have the pic of my tint now but I will take it on Fri/Sat after I wash and detail it. Just wait....

he's right, the 'chirp' is very misleading, i thought it was gonna be the cool sounding chirp like you hear in the movies but NEG, i had steve enable it and as soon as i heard what it sounded like i had it disabled immediately, i think it sounds annoying and i personally couldn't deal with it, but if you like the BEEP then by all means that's your prerogative and i encourage it

I had the programming done at HOI, they charged me $103, plus they didn't do it right the first time. Had to bring it back again and eventually they got it.

I wonder if HOI and Walters are under same owner? I bought mine at HOI but it was shipped from Walters.

By the way Steve is in Socal this week. But he probably doesn't have a spare set of bi-x with him. So order early next time.

I purchased my BIX through ebay (yea I know I took a huge risk). I installed them with my dad it took us about 2 - 2.5 hours to install because we did not remove the front bumper (not recommended). I tookm my car to Mercedes of Pembroke Pines which is about less than 5 mins from my house and they acted like I stoled them and they refused to program to present. They said if I wanted BIX I had to buy another car . Then I took my car to Mercedes of Miami and the service guy just took my car (knowing that he was loaded with cars that morning) and not even 10 mins he came back out saying "Its done." He didnt even charge me a dime. Next time I go there again I'm going to buy a gift card for him because he was a pretty cool guy.

So the dealer can do it but they just dont want to.
