VIDEO: In car vid from VIR 2/3/05

I know, it's about freaking time right?

I don't know if these will stream, for me I got garbly gook because the server doesn't have the mime type set. Window's Media player will play them, so will Quicktime. Enjoy, let me know what you think...

I didn't set the camera up until Sunday. After four 20 minute sessions on Sat., most people were just letting me by.

The third run of Sunday ended up being the fastest, but the batery on the cam died. I only ended up with 4 laps of video, which sucks because I got two cars to lock up and go off course in front of me, like what the mustang did in Vid 2, and another spun out in front of me. Mid way through that run I let a friend in a Civic with a K20-S motor pass me. Would've been good video. He supposedly has me in front of him for the first half of Run 3, but I haven't seen it yet.

Instead of the game sign up for an HPDE and go do it. It's insanely fun-

WHAT?! no drifts? j/k

damn what took you so long to get passed that porsche? you could have smoked em

and what are all those passing hand singnals? never heard of blinkers?
(looking back at nürburgring in germany )

in the first video it looks like everyone is going 30 mph , but the second one is better. what was your top speed, since it is difficult to determine from the video.

CAUTION! alot of ironie in here

LMAO

The Porsche- with this group, no passing in the turns, no passing without being pointed by. Saftey thing.

I was able to hit 130 on the front stretch, 115ish in the upper Esses, and 120-125ish on the back straight. The only "slow" part of the track is the tight turn by the tree, where the mustang locks up, and that is 40ish...

High Performance Driving Event, HPDE. My hands are mostly out of view. Full screen the Video, in Vid 1, listen at the beginning, you can hear the Kleemann pulley'd SC and the Eisenmann Race exhaust... I am definately shifting, full heel-toe usage as well... Maybe I could make some smaller Vids without the music and post them too... Most general viewers what music, and at speed it's nothing but wind noise anyway

I don't know why more people don't do this stuff. As long as you are in control of your own vehicle it is safe. It's fun, and you'll learn a lot.

131 views and 7 posts, 3 of those are mine I thought for sure more people would have something to say. I understand when the technical suspension crap I post gets overlooked, but vids?

haha - good point, but wait 'til everyone gets home from work. I fwd'd the link to Sergei - he went to VIR last summer in his blue Soobie and he'll get a kick out of this one!

Thanks for posting this stuff - now even us armchair racers can participate even if we don't make it to the track with racing tires in our trunks...

Nice vids nuk. I had a similar camera mounts, but it was shaking too much and I tight it up to back brace. When I was there last summer we only were driving on North course. The whole course definitely much more fun!
I am going to change turbo this time which will get me to around 315-320 hp at crank and put Cusco adjustable camber plates so it should to make me much quieker this time. Did you figure out what to do with your camber?
If you planning to signup for future HPDE let me know, I wil be running at group II.

I will let you know next time I go anywhere. VIR and Sumit Point are good options for us. I was supposed to go to Mid-Ohio but a family member is ill and I cannot make it.

I had heard of DR but know nothing of the specifics.

Thanks Serg. The Full Course is insane. Very fast and a lot of fun.

I am hoping to get some more HP out of the coupe soon. Ready to install I have the SuperSprint headers and hi-flo cat. I've been discussing some head work for now w/schrick cams. Not sure what that all would net at the wheels. Long term, I've been thinking about 2.6l or motor swap.

I just installed my KW V2s with new upper spring bearings, speedybenz adjustable sway endlinks and new rear endlinks. The rear bar is too still, so I am going to need to get the H&R front and rear.

For camber I have the speedybenz rear upper carrier arms, adjustable camber arms. And Jeff is going to be prototyping race camber/caster plates for up front

The problem is, I just bought a e30 325i and dumped a ton of money into it to get it through MD inspection and begin to prep it for the track... Which car to build MAN??? With the front plates the coupe won't be as streetable, and the e30 is heading towards Spec e30, J-Stock or K prepared... I can't have two track cars...

For 50 beans the chasecam is a good deal. You could always make your own.

I like mine a lot though. The whole weekend the thing stayed put, no problems.

It's pretty freakin loud... I don't even have the cone filter installed yet. All the sound deadening material is still in the car. That was recorder with the built in mic on a camcorder with the windows down... it's only going to get worse...

Yerp.. a buick... a stinkin frickin buick... He had more HP in the straights but the thing drove like complete ****!
