My guess is yes - if they find out. A lot of chip makers put software into the chip that allows the user to reset the chip to stock prior to service visits, then when hooked up to the diagostic computer, it will think that the chip is stock. However if the actual CPU is inspected it will be obvious that the case has been opened and the chip altered.

Best of luck, BT

If they can prove that the chip caused the problem. More than likely if the ECU burns up they will blame the chip and I can imaging that they ain't cheap. Check that Upsolute dealer's workmanship, it takes skill to open the ECU desolder the chip, resolder it and make it look like nothing ever took place. From what Mark Cummings. Upsolute pioneer said, he can't tell that anything was done.

The answer is maybe. Are your lawyers better than MBUSA's lawyers?

The MB diagnostic computer cannot tell if a car has a modified chip according to both GIAC and Upsolute.

Don't forget that our car's ecus are crimped together.

It's very hard to recrimp back together and have it look like it was never screwed with.

Upsolute was working on a swtichable ecu for the ccoupe, but I don't know if they ever finished it.
