here's what I use....
I've installed these in both my Benz's and my truck (the MG's dont need 'em). I use the optional FM interface - plugs into the Antenna Input on the back of the radio - which gives noise and fade free performance.

BestBuy has them advertised for $149 for the kit + $69 for the modulator - I paid a little more for the kit, a little less for the modulator.

Unless you've just got to control your iPod from your steering wheel, get the Aux cable. The sound quality is fine, the price is right and the install couldn't be easier. It took me 15 minutes following the directions in Sawloo's original post. BTW, the part number has changed. The new part number is 210 440 50 05. I got mine at MB of Pompano Beach, FL. Took two days for it to come in from the Orlando MBZ parts warehouse.

I once read a post that takes the Aux/iPod setup one step further. Belkin makes a cig lighter charger that plugs into the bottom of the iPod. It has a headphone jack in the part that plugs into the lighter. I think the guy got a cig lighter from Radio Shack, spliced into the existing lighter, put it in the space next to the gear selector, ran the interface cable into the center console and kept the iPod there. Anyone know how to remove the ashtray?

Okay, but I had the IPod kit installed (late '05 C180K), and it doesn't work properly cause it interferes with my Parrot CK 3000 Evolution Bluetooth Phone Kit. Apparently they both plug into the AUX port of the audio 20 radio, and never actually operate as a MOST device. So are there different kinds of IPod kits out there, or is Merc just pulling a quick one on us again, by claiming they're offering us this wonderful MOST device which actually never uses MOST and simply plugs into an analogue AUX port?

Tomorrow I'll pick up the "203-540-61-07" harness to finish it off. And if you were wondering, digging out the aux harness was a two beer job.
I have a 2004 C230, without the nav unit. So I just have a 6 CD changer, will the aux cable be available for me as well? I know this question is probably already answered, but even tho I read thru the other DIY post, I am still a little confised. Also, willa screwdriver suffice in taking the door sill? I have neevr done anything on my car, so this is going to be a first for me. Thanks

my ipod sits in the ashtray compartment, cable runs behind the glove box, under the side panel and into the ashtray.

note that if you're doing the install yourself, you'll find that removing the panel by the door (A panel?) is the toughest part of the install; be carefull not to break it.

i printed out the info from the DIY post (see link above) and went to the dealer and had them charge me no more than 20 minutes worth of installation.

Does anybody here know if this is also the part number for an 06' C230 sport? My dealer is clueless.

Thanks
Johnny
