Have you seen the price tag on that thing?? It would have been 15K more than her fully loaded special edition. Plus I never like to be, nor would I want her to be the guinea pig for the first year glitches.

Strange move, considering that these two cars have nothing in common except the name.

What are you talking about strange move ? She bought the ML because the SUV better fits her life style, not because she wanted a car like mine. If she wanted a car like mine she could have bought the same one I have, or a c230 like yours and saved a couple of grand. Why must everyone in this forum be so negative?

Why do people get offended so easily? There was nothing negative in my post - just an observation. You said that your GF was so impressed with your car that she got herself a Benz. But, she could have just as well bought any other car or SUV, as ML is a different kind of animal than C in every respect. This is like saying "oh, I liked these green apples so much that I went to a grocery store and bought 10 lbs of oranges!".

Actually what I said was that my GF "just couldn't get enough of my BENZ" BENZ being the key word in this statement. I didn't say that she fell in love with my "C" Class so she bought an ML. And if you don't want people to be offended by your post then stop posting your negative observations. Anyone reading this post knows that she didn’t buy her SUV because she wanted my C class, as that was never stated.

A better analogy would be that I liked Dole pineapples and told her how impressed I was with the brand Dole. So then she went to the store and bought some Dole bananas.

Mmmmm…… I like Dole pinapples and bananas!

Bananas and pineapples are sub-par.
Same with apples.

Grapes are the number 1.

Define "BENZ" that she couldn't get enough of. Star on the hood? Sudden realization that others may envy you?

Sorry, I don't mind if someone gets offended if they choose so. Why so many people are such crybabies for no reason is what surprises me.

Brand name is the basis of your judgement? So, if someone peels off the Dole logo off a banana, you won't even enjoy it?

Honestly when I first read the first post, I thought your GF bought another "C" too. Then I realized that the "BENZ" you meant was 'Mercedes BenZ' and not 'your C-class' after I read the 'ML500'. Because you said "just couldn't get enough of my BENZ", which makes me think "his benz = C-class", but if you say "just couldn't get enough of BENZ", then I would have understand it differently. I had the same thought as VADIM, 'how did your GF choose ML, when she wants more C'. But I understand now. It's just a slight of misunderstanding.
Anyway Congratz for the new car.

Btw, I thought 2005 C320 has different kit on it. Is that the Sport?

I have a '05 ML500 as an extended loaner for the time being. IMO the SUV, while having decent power seems to be quite rough in the ride quality and fit and finish seems to be lacking for a stickered $53k vehicle..Even if it was only for say $40k it would be a hard sell for me...I'm not an SUV fan to begin with so yes, you can say I have a bias....just my 2 cents....

..I have always appreciated mercedes benz, and their legacy. I've also always been a believer in country's representing their own makes. Perhaps that makes me a purist, dunno, but seems that world marketing has become more of an influence than passion in many cases. The ML is nice, but I was let down to discover that it was developed and constructed in the U.S., to suit our culture. Like the Jeep Liberty, it was completely conceived and realized in Germany.?..At least I think this is all acurate..Ford owns Volvo and Jag, the Jag S type shares it's platform with Thunderbird, and the 05 stang! The catera, was/is an opel, and now is the platform for the GTO. The famed catera engine lives on however, in the Saab..
