The History of Drexappeal's Ride (9/1/09 Post 1309 - Nitto INVO Tires Installed)
This is the plan right now:
- Rear Tires
- Battery
- MBenzNL installs
- More custom stuff...
I set a budget for myself early in the summer, but I'm already close to it and will most likely be going over.
by far the best mod i have ever done. i like that fact that now my car can stop faster then it can go.
P.S hey drex, just a question, how much did u get ur grill for? do u like it? i can tell its different then most, its the true CL grill that is straight through to the edge without a border on the sides (right?) where did u get it from and did u paint it black ur self, did it have the chrome strips running on the grill?

braking power doesn't have anything to do with nose dive. any time you brake the weight center is thrown forward to the front because of the momentum. therefore causing the front suspension to squash. if you didn't make the nose dive that means you were only "slowing" down from 100. it's not really a 100-0 braking.

Yeah, I've started to depress the brakes a 'bit more today. Lots of stop and go traffic (which helps with the break in). Needless to say, I'm sure they can stop on a dime without question. I actually don't mind the dust (don't think they're too bad), but there's still a lot of brake squeal (when lightly depressing brake pedal). I may have the shop add more anti-squeal paste when I go in to have the rear tires replaced. Now, I'm just waiting until I have time to leave my car with my tuner so that he can get some sleeper power out of it, so the brakes can be used even more effectively. The grille? Well, it's the MH-Dezent grille (Expression is the same grille, also). It retails for $600+ (not sure the exact price). I got it used from OGGLE, who was moving and needed to part out his car. I immediately brought it to the body shop and they painted everything to color match except for the front star. I think it made the grille more aggressive looking than the grey slats (mine weren't black) and chrome strips. I also like how it made it look more integrated into the hood. Plus, at night, it gave that effect as if the star was floating.
Again, people always seem to think that my car is Black, but it is Midnight Blue. Color-match FTMFW (of course, as long as it's tasteful - too much color-matching looks tacky).
I'm assuming you mean a 10 step program for peeps that aren't quite there?

that grill look sweet i think i want to get me one too. but i dont think i'll do the pain match on my car, it would just not look right, what i would do is the same idea as the stock grill, with black back ground and chrome strips leading to and away from the stat with the bottom strip matching the car.
do u know of a website that i can take a look at this grill and price it out hopefully make an order. let me know. thx

Also, make sure you mount the bottom piece on the hood, prior to connecting it with the upper piece. Now, another thing that I hope you know, there are no top mounts for this grille, so you will have to custom fabricate some, if you want the grille to be secure at the top. I have used Zipties just to secure the top portion of the grille.
Truth be told, the bottom portion holds the grille in very well, but I just wanted some security on the top mounts. I may, at some point, make custom top mount brackets, but that's gonna be a pain in the *** to do and I've been too lazy.

A lot of people would feel it's a waste of money, but I'm an enthusiast, so why not? I've got the cash to burn...might as well enjoy it. Another angle people would take is the fact that I could've bought a c32 or c55 by now. I actually have 2 answers for that: 1) Can't find a single C32 in my color code 904 midnight blue. 2) Can't find a single C55 in Diamond Black (Midnight Blue was discontinued when the C55 was released) and if I could, I'd have to re-do a lot of the mods (most importantly, rims would be $$$ to re-do).
So, there's a lot of logic into what has been done on my car (if we're simply talking about modding). Eventually, the performance mods will be going up, but that won't really be finished until I have another daily driver.
I would get the DFWDude emblem, if you don't already have it. If you want to keep your car classy/elegant, that's all you would need. If you want to go for "aggressive/sport", go with the Mattig Grille (painted black) or this Grille (painted like you said you intended - just the bottom piece).
Another thing to consider with this grille - It doesn't really sit right on other bumpers. When I got my full kit, I realized how much better it looked with the new bumper vs. my old sport bumper. Others have stated similar sentiments (i.e. Grille looks better now than it did before, just from the bumper change).

Hell yeah...Oh, forgot 'bout the mod you, me and mj had spoken about too!...
