Alarm Settings- Beep and Flashing Lights

I have been dealing with an '05 E320 CDI European car at my office and noticed today that it has the chirping sound when the doors are locked or unlocked, along with the standard flashing turn signals (once-lock, three times-unlock).

Does anyone know which setting this is that both the lights flash and the car chirps, is this the Netherlands setting?

Despite what everyone has said, I found the chirping noise to be unobtrusive, not too loud or obnixous, but just right.

If anyone know whats setting this is it would be appreciated it.

Thanks

I wish I knew too... My dads 05 E500 doesnt have the chirp, but my friends who got his E500 a month after my dad (both ordered) has the chirp, the flash, and the panic button still works. Which setting is that one? From what I understood is that if you enable the chirp the panic button no longer works. Is this different for the E class than the C?

The dealer needs to set it to Netherlands setting. With the C you lose the panic feature on the key but don't know about the E.

Just got mine set to Netherlands today. ggong5150 is correct, I lost the function on the panic button. I personally like the beeps and have never used the panic button on any of the cars I have owned.

THANKS for the video! I'm glad it's not too loud. I'll definetly have this turned on during my 1K/3K visit.

the netherlands beep is not loud, not obnoxious, not going to wake up your neighbors unless they are already insomniacs.

I was at the dealer a few hours ago and setup an appointment for my first 1-3K miles service. I had mentioned this and they told me that it was a programming option though a laptop interface. He said that they (that dealership) had not heard of it, but believed it was possible. They are going to look at it this week for me, and he had also said they are going to look into whether or not it may be tied into other systems. He told me that sometimes when you change some programming options, it does affect other software as well and they want to make sure that it will not interfere with anything else. He went on to tell me a story about the ML's that did not have the on call system thing and how when they started the truck a malfunction light went on, they programmed it to stop, but after a month or two, they had issues with the clock? Wierd, huh?

This is not different for the E-class and C-class. Newer models of E/C (with appropriate newer Star Diagnosis software) can enable the audible lock confirmation separately from the "Netherlands setting".

Dean,
do you know if this newer Star Diag software can be upgraded on older (2003-2004) C-Classes ? reason I'm asking, is that I would like to keep the audible lock confirmation (alarm chirp), when I set to Mexico setting for IMS. As of now, you can't have both Netherlands features, US features, & Mexico features,
Or if software updgrade can allow for everything together, like alarm chirp, panic button, IMS, etc... ???

You'll have to give it a try... the standard software might not help you, because the settings are now "USA no buzzer" and "USA with buzzer". So you can get the beeping for lock/unlock and retain the panic alarm. But the Mexico setting (two, one with IMS and one without IMS) still will not beep. The developer Star Diagnosis can set some of these functions separately, like panic alarm. I didn't check about the buzzer but I believe it can also be set separately. IMS can probably be set separately as well... might be worth playing around with on your car! Why don't you drive it up here?

Just loud enough for you to be able to find where you parked your car.

Thanks !! Definitely might be worth the try. I specially like the idea of separately set functions. (panic alarm, buzzer, and IMS) combining the best of the USA, NL and MEXICO settings.

Doug, I'm free on April 17th (Sunday). Please mail me the WIS so I can get a preview of what's required. Don't have a warm-fuzzy on the headliner issue yet.

Dean,
That would be awesome, but hell of a drive up there.
When's the next time you'll be at Mark's house in HB ?
Would be interested in playing around with some of those separate settings, to see if they can be done one by one.
Also,
Any hints on dropping the headliner and reinstalling it ???

BTW, you can adjust the volume of the buzzer ... by percentage. So depending how loud (or quiet) you want it for your particular situation. I tried mine at 10% because I live in a really quiet area.

It's not too bad of a drive up here! 4 hours from where Doug is... so you could go there first.

Headliner... I heard you don't necessarily need to remove it to cut...
