Drive train loss, pulley and other stuffs

Can somebody tell me what is the approximate drive train loss with W203 specially with an auto tranny? … I’ve been told that it could be around 25-33% loss…is this correct? .. anybody has any a more precise answer?

I’ve dynoed my car (C200 Kompressor sedan) and I got 101kw or 135hp at the wheels with Kleemann ring pulley. Now the thing is that I didn’t dyno the car before the pulley upgrade. So If somebody owns a C20 Kompressor sedan and have dynoed the car stock … can you please post the result? Or…somebody who knows the drive train loss on an automatic W203.
Now if the drive train loss at 30% that means I gained about 17kw or 22.5hp at the wheels or about 20%!!…impressive!! … and that’s 1 second off 0-60 with stopwatch. Oh btw…original power is 120kw or 160hp at the fly.

I installed a straight thru exhaust system with 2.5” piping from the catback. The result was less than expected. I only gained 5kw or 6.7 hp at the wheels. The expected result was about at least 11kw or 15 hp from the wheels (I’ve seen dyno result of a W203 C320 – 17kw or 22.5hp at the wheels from the muffler that he made locally). But I decided to put the old muffler back cos the power gain was much less, the noise was too loud for my taste and for the money…its not really worth it.

From the exhaust dyno result they told me that my car has a rich mixture and if I had a chip with the right mixture and other adjustments they told me that I’ll get about 15-20% power from the exhaust and the chip.

C200 Kompressor
Hi.

The stock C200K has 163hps on the flywheel.

A Swedish test team conducted a dynotest on the stock C200K with manual tranny and it resulted in 149hps on the rear wheels. Don't know how much more power loss there is in the auto tranny...

drivetrain loss-

bajaiman-

As stock a C230K coupe is supposed to make 192 hp at the crank- checking through posts here and my own cars dyno (6 spd) a stock RWHP number seems to be 164. This works out to approx 17% with the 6 spd- expect a auto box to be slightly worse. A stock CLK430 (rated at 275hp/295tq at the crank) will put down (approx) 217 hp and 224 tq - over 25% loss!

135hp sounds low, about what you should get with a stock C200. Keep in mind that different dyno's produce different results. I did a base dyno on my C230 on a dynojet at 168 and so have others. A base dyno I did on a dynomax was 159. Also make sure a powerful fan is pointed straight into the intercooler. That made a few hp difference on my dyno. Also the hotter the intercooler gets the less effective it gets so doing a bunch of dyno runs back to back might make things worse so let the car cool down a bit in between. I don't know if it makes a difference but put the car in Dyno mode (turn key to 1st position, press reset button for about 30 seconds until it beeps, on the left side of steering wheel push the lower right button and the use the up down arrow to get to dyno mode screen and press +- keys to set the mode). Also have them check for air/fuel ratio and look for detonation, specially above 5,000 rpm.

It's hard to say what a normal loss should be for your car as I don't think any one on this forum has put their motor on an engine dyno and we just assume the factory numbers are correct and the same on each and every car. So to be accurate, remove you engine and put it on an engine dyno with your exhaust and intake and let us know what your results are.

You guys in Australia must have grippy tires to keep your cars from falling off the planet.

W203 M111.955 2.0 kompressor
I think your car have some problems man.. or the fuel was very poor.

My C200 kompressor before the tunings (you can see the list of the tunings i made, in my signature) was 174hp on the flyweel (dyno result, 98 octane fuel). No bull***t.

I'll post pics with dyno results in a new thread very soon
