Version Coding and Audio 10

I have read many posts about version coding and the Audio 10. My bro sent me one that show PROD when I installed it after it played 30 seconds. My question is: Is version coding specific to the actual car or the type of car? Can someone version code it at the dealer in a c class and then I put it in my c class or do I have to install in mine and then version code it directly?

If version coding is the wrong terminology, please correct me.

From my experience I belive it's with the type of car, not specific to any car. When I installed my audio 10 it worked without any coding. I heard from somewhere that as long at your audio 10 has never been installed in anything other than a C-class coding isn't necessary.

If you install the audio and then turn the key, and let the radio turn on, then the prod will go away.

I've learned from experience that if you just plus everything in and not turn the key, the prod will occur even if you just put the original deck back in.

Thank you both for your responses! I will check this out.

DACHIGGA, I am a big fan of your rims. What brand and size are they? Great color car and rim combo!

My friend took the Audio 10 to the dealership, put in another C Class and hooked up the star diagnostic tool (I think that is what he said) and it worked. He brought it home and we installed it and now I am good to go!!!!

Make sure its configured properly. There is a setting for leather vs cloth in the DAS. This changes the settings stored within the Audio 10 and will have an affect on how it sounds. The most notable difference will be in the high frequencies; attenuated on the leather setting.

That and several other features/functions are covered in the manual. Did you not get one? There are posts on here with links where you can download one in case you didn't.

Not quite.... The integrated antenna setting on my sunroof was incorrectly set to "Belgium" which locked out my Audio 10 and caused it to display the message "BEL". So I'm wondering if maybe your's is locked out to a country with the spelling of "PROD" ? Should be an easy dealer fix once you explain the problem in detail to them. Feel free to print out my post for them to read.

Ancient post, but I'm trying to find the Audio 10 manual...
link? Found one, but it's not the correct one.
Different buttons.
