Question are you seeing a lot of coupes on the road?

it has been a year since the sport coupe has been out. and i still see them rather infrequently... i know la is the capital of mercedes, but even there, i saw only a few around (maybe i was in the wrong neighborhood )

anyway, do you see them around? are they common?

I have seen two (2) in traffic so far. And remember that the coupé went on sale in Europe long before it hit the shores in US (the sedan even had it's world release on the Stockholm car exhibition. Haha, I sat in the very first official C out there ), and that I live in the captial of a European country with a decent percentage of german cars on the roads (even though we have a small population).

The BMW Ti seems to be much more popular here, just can't understand why...

Since I got the Bordeaux car on August 15th (traded of the Orion car on Halloween), I have had exactly 4 sightings. The first was this spring. It was my bordeaux car. I have seen one silver C7 car twice and another silver non-C7 once. They don't seem to be selling too well here. One dealer has had some of the same cars on the lot for months.

personally, i am GLAD not to see many coupes around. i enjoy the feeling of having a car you dont see a billion times a day, like a 3 series BMW for example. i still get that special look, even from people with the big benzes

Talking

Drove from San Diego to Santa Cruz on Highway 1 the whole way. Did not see one.
Since then (Feb.), I've seen exactly 1 in Santa Cruz on the road (silver), and one in Palo Alto at a MBZ repair place. It was black, and stripped, not even a Sunroof.
Other than that, none, which as someone pointed out, is fine with me. I've lusted for an exotic car my whole life, and in this car I see something similar, but more reliable, with the kind of body style engineering you'd expect to see on an expensive Italian job, as in very curvatious.
I love to wash her, caress her....yes, it's a she.

Around Los Gatos, which is kinda like
Beverly Hills of the north, with a Ferrari dealership accross the street from the High School, and a median home price of a mil plus,
I still have the only one anyones' seen, and they love it.

Red face

Oh and NOT seeing them, finding a somewhat exclusive car I could actually buy instead of just drool on, was a primary motivation, since around here, meaning Silicon Valley to Monterey, having a BMW won't impress anyone. ( and they cost more, and have less features stock)
Next to SUV's which of course they and MBZ make now, thats all you see. Nobody even looks at a
BMW or even an MBZ for that matter...unless it's a sport model of some sort. Sedans don't turn heads.

Angry

The thing I've noticed is that MBZ barely advertises this car. I've seen exactly one TV ad ever, no print ads, no billboards, and one radio ad for the local lease deal.
By comparson I've seen about 1000 TV showings of ads for the MBZ M 4X4 series, and also lots of ads for the E class and MBZ in general, like the one of the car that is being crushed and see's it's life pass before it's eyes just as it's being reborn into a new car. Thats an awesome ad.
They must be working out the bugs still and can't keep up with demand, so keep advertising low.
I never would've known this car existed if a friend hadn't told me about it.
Glad he did!

I see two in my area....but not every day. A brilliant silver C7/cloth (no roof) in a parking area and a fully optioned obsidian black with a gorgeous asian woman driving it. There's a paprika coupe that I've seen on my way to my favorite hiking spot...but I only drive that way every 2-3 weeks.

In the first eight months of release I saw maybe 8-10 out on the road. Since mine came at the end of February, I saw about two a week for March and April, then about one every other day in May. Oddly enough, I've only seen one in the SF area in June. Although, part of June I was in Canada (for over a week). While in Montreal for the GP I saw eight in four days - so it seems to be pretty popular with our friends to the north.

Cheers, BT

I'm glad they aren't advertising it....people still think I'm driving a $50,000 car. I've had one co-worker who was in on my little secret because he saw one in a car magazine. I was crushed....he thought I only paid $24,000 when mine actually cost $31,000. Damn the luck!!

Since I began driving my C230K sportscoupe in December, I have only seen one other sportscoupe on the roads here in Phoenix and Scottsdale Arizona -- a silver one going east on Cactus near the Paradise Valley Mall. However two different people have stopped me as I exited from my car in parking lots to ask me about the car, how it drives, and quite brazenly, how much it sells for. When I told them the price, they were amazed. They both thought it was more expensive than it is.

I have seen couples here in the SF Bay Area and most of them dont have C7 Wheels and most are automatics!! The most common color is Silver, Black, Orion and White. Magma Red with C7 is still rare. When i see other coupes on the road, my ego would say to myself, "mine is better, cuz yours aint C7 and 6speed"

I see about 1 a day here in Westwood (next to Beverly Hills). Some days I see 2 or 3 in the 10 miles of driving I do per day. Two days ago I was at a light next to another silver one while a car carrier with 3 other colors passed in the other direction! They still are much less common than the other MB models around here but 1 out of 4 cars is a MB or BMW in my neighborhood.
