i have a 3 1/2 year old who pulled up the golf door pins. i immediately bought the alluminum door pins as a replacement. when locked, the pins in the rear actually sit very low (lower than the surrounds) compared to the fronts. now, my son can't unlock the door!

I have a Coupé so I only needed 2. I went in with another Coupé owner and we each got what we needed. ForMyMercedes.com
Installing them is super easy. You need to remove your stock pins, might need a plier (wrap a cloth around the pin), to break it free from the loc-tite. Then just unscrew one, and scew in the new ones.

As for the child lock: every ROW W203 comes with the child lock feature...it is just the NA cars that come with different rear door locks and THAT is also the reason why the NA spec cars come with golfbal Ts as doorlock pins.
With a eurospec lock you will get the childlock.
greetingz,

Have any of you with kids considered that in an emergency (car flips for example) the kids can't get out unless you unlock your door and since you remove the golf tees, they are essentially trapped.
If you kid keeps playing with the door locks, you need to raise you child differently.

I think it's a waste of money when they can use it for other safety measures...

Some were surprised when the car automatically unlocked the doors, due to an erratic lane change to get off a highway, or hitting those road bumps and losing steering control. Maybe an oversensitive gyro, but nevertheless, if it is there, that's a great safety feature in itself.
If anyone knows the real story, please chime in ! This is definitely not something I would go out and TEST !

Yes, I have considered that scenario prior to switching over to the alluminum pins. My 3 1/2 year old is still in a car seat though. When he's possibly 5 years old and in a booster seat, then I might switch back. I've also read threads here about the doors unlocking during hard driving. Seems to be a safety feature of MB. Even if there were child proof lock installed in the car (regardless if it's a Benz or other automobile manufacturer), your stated situation would be the same. The same could be said about disabling the windows to be opened from the rear. During in emergency, and the doors get jammed, windows are disabled.....end result "essentially trapped".
Do you have kids???? If not, you probably don't realized that children sometime get facinated by non toy items than toy items. It's not a question of "raising your child differently", especially when were dealing with toddlers. It's about teaching them right from wrong. At their age, it just doesn't happen overnight.

At first, it made me think something was defective, then I remembered the auto un-lock feature.
