Why don't MBs have child-locks?
So I just spoke to the MB folks and they told me that MB doesn't have child locks on the back doors, how bizzare is that?
All I need is for my 3 yr old to open the door into a tree/car/rock and that will really make my day!
It seems really odd to me given all the other safety features on our cars that they don't do this, anyone have any good ideas, can I get it added from a UK/European door?

Yes they do, you should see the size of her smile when I take her for a ride in my car
Anyway that's why I got the C32, I needed a car with 4 doors!

I think it's more of an electronic child lock. B/c when all the doors are locked, you can't open the rear doors without unlocking the car. (hence, you should get the flush aluminum door pins so that they can't pull the locks out manually...)

hum, I have a little button in my centger console (W202) with a child sign, I think it's child lock but I don't know if it'S for doors or windows.
but my rear doors are child proof because I changed the pins to the euro ones, when they lock (after going over like 5mph) you can'T unlock them from the rear when trying to open the door, I have to unlock them from the front.

Once you set the auto-lock feature to lock the doors on drive-off, the rear doors remain locked until the driver opens his door or unlocks the doors manually at the center console. It's true a child can pull the door pin and unlock the door, but if they are properly seatbelted in the rear seat (5-years and less is the law in my state), they shouldn't be able to reach it.
(imo, if you don't strap your kids in--at any age--you have a worse problem than worrying about them getting to the door locks.)
While I have C-Coupe (straight) door pins in the front doors, I've left the Golf Tee rear door pins in place, because the adult children I go to lunch with like opening the doors if I'm asleep at the switch and don't unlock the doors fast enough.

As for the child lock: every ROW W203 comes with the child lock feature...it is just the NA cars that come with different rear door locks and THAT is also the reason why the NA spec cars come with golfbal Ts as doorlock pins.
With a eurospec lock you will get the childlock.

I think it's a waste of money when they can use it for other safety measures...
