V6 C230
It looks like MB will be replacing the supercharged I4 with a V6 in the C230 for Europe. The newV6 will have just over 200hp according the germancarfans.com. The question is, will it make it here?

Of course...this has been discussed at length, with lots of different takes on it...you'll get more out of searching and reading then you probably will in this thread, what with members boycotting because of STFF and all

The V6 C230 seems like such a miscalculation, given gas prices. So, if its not coming to the states, why bother at all? The Europeans will want a diesel, and if not, they'd probably want the more efficient 1.8.
Anybody else notice that the car in the edmunds spy video was boosted? You can see an intercooler in a couple of the brighter lit shots of the nose. I'm guessing supercharged, but since MB is going to turbos you never know.

Since people use k & wz interchangeably around here...The c230k, if you mean coupe, yes, is gone. The c230wz, the sedan, is coming here with a v6. I had a production slot for one, so I qualify as a source...last time I checked, I live in the US.
The lineup will be C230 Sport Sedan, C280 Sedan and 4matic (replacing the 240), C350 Sport Sedan, Sedan, and 4matic, and of course the C55.
Lol, imagine the conversation at MB that would have to take place to cut the C230 entirely..."Meine Dahmen und Herren...for the 2006 model year, we will eliminate our biggest seller and price those same customers out of consideration. This will be our best year ever."
Use judgment, people.

MBUSA doesn't seem to care about volume. It stopped importation of both the Wagon and the Coupe. They do have a lot of brand equity in the C230 moniker though-and they do sell a lot of them.

coupe has been gone for months so thats old news
my sources say the C230k is being repaced with the C280. sales would only fall if the car cost more. if the C280 does replace the C230k then it will have a similar price and be one heck of a steal. if you ask me sales would go up. why buy a low power bmw or audi if you could have a 230 hp benz?

I can assure your news is 100% correct. Incidentally, a MB HK sales mgr
just told me last week. The C230K is faded out already.i.e. no more to be made. The new C230 is going to be a ~200hp engine.
It will launch Hong Kong this year golden.
( c230 Price is ~HKD400K, c350 Price is ~HKD570K )
I do not have the spec of both as not yet shown on web page
I will check if I can get hardcopy from the showroom.

A C280... loved my old c280 back in 1997 and I look forward to finding a way to get rid of my C230k to get a C280. But it not worth flipping of of a lease for thats for sure.

Tell me how a dealer in Maryland had a production slot reserved IN MY NAME for an '06, V6 230? Was I going to be the only person in America with one of these? Gee, maybe I should have, 'cause he offered it to me at invoice...yeah, they do that all the time for special-order imports!! This is not hearsay as you are so apt to spread on here, but first-hand info. If it turns out to be false, then the dealer was lying and forged documents. I might even still have the order at work, which I could then scan and show. Until then, be reasonable for once, and accept something is possible outside the realm of your own perception of reality.

The C280 is still a V6 just not a 2.5 liter V6! I was told that we are getting the C280 by a person working at the NYIAS from MBUSA. While that certianly isnt the best source I was also told the same thing by someone I know who works at MBUSA, and not some telephone answerer!!! While they may be wrong, so may you. No one has seen any proof which engine the US will get other than the fact we are going to get a V6 and not a I4.
