2005 C230WZ Service A question.

2005 C230WZ Service A question.
I purchased my 05 C230WZ approximately 9 months ago. I don't drive very much and have only put 5,800 miles on the car so far. Today I noticed the "30 day until service A" reminder popped up on the computer. I know that service A is usually due at 13,000 miles. I was not aware that it was 10 months or 13,000 miles. Is this message correct or is my car premature in displaying the service needed?
I know that the dealer will say it is needed, but what's everyone's opinion here on when this service is needed.
Keep in mind that I changed the oil in the car at 4,000 miles (at the dealer per my request) because it had been 7 months since purchase.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

NO!
I just did it because after SEVEN MONTHS and only 4,000 miles I wanted to clean out the original oil. I knew that it would take me many months to get to the 13,000 mile mark and the recommended interval. What I was unaware of is that it appears that it's 13,000 miles or ten months, whichever comes first. At least that is what the computer is telling me. I just want to find out if my car is acting up or if it is indeed time for maintenance.

Actually its 1yr or miles. What you are forgetting to take into account is the fact that your car may have sat for a while prior to your purchase of it. The manual should address this.

No the deal is that its set for 12months or 13k. The 12 months starts from assembly or shortly there after. Do a forum search, it has been discussed. Anyway, so just because u purchase your car 7 months ago....the clock started ticking well b4 that.
About Service A: It is basically a glorified oil change. They visually inspect other things but you can do that yourself as well. I recommend calling your local dealer, asking for just an oil change and reset the service reminder. That should cost about 90 bucks vs. ~250 for a Service A. Get your free tire alignment whiel you are in there.
Definitely don't skip on service B though. Pay them for that one as it is a much more involve process unless you are highly skill tech.
