V1 Display installed in spare buttons
Ok, this is the idea I was shooting for. Anyone have any clue how to get to the back to those buttons? I wanted to flush the display nicely in the spot of those 3 buttons. I assume I need to pull out that silver trim and take it from there?

Yup. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
If I remember correctly there was a post about removal of this in pre MY05 vehicles. Then someone chimed in, someone very, very knowledgable, and indicted it was similar in the MY05. Now the hard part is to figure out whats actually behind those blanks and if it will be distructive to the rest of those buttons due to the interface between all.

Right by the Gables... For me, those buttons are blank since I dont have heated seats. I would need to see how hard it would be to have a wire from there to the fuse pannel thats on the left side of the driver.

I'm planning to do the same thing in my C230, I'm glad someone finally brought it up. If I make any progress, I'll let you know... so much other stuff to upgrade in the interim.

even though the buttons are blank, they are part of the entire switch row and I doubt that you will find enough room behind there to mount it. You may destroy the entire switch row and be out more than 200 dollars.

You'd best be advised to trust sunman. He is MBWorlds own version of Monster Garage, Pimp My Ride, etc the way he keeps moding his car.

They won't be empty, they just won't be populated. Many electronics manufacturers take this appraoch. Easier to build one design that can do everything and only populate it with the components you need.
If you strip the V1 display down to just components there might be enough room. I do have a better idea for you:
The front parktronic display housing can be ordered (did Steve ever post a part #?) and replaces the top vent. Put your display in that. No cutting, completely stock looking.

first of all, how did you get inside my car to take that picture!?! it sounds like that isn't gonna be easy to get the v1 lights inside there but if you did it you would be my hero. then you'll have to come to connecticut and do it to my car.

yeah dyno's cost money!! and the money tree in my back yard is a wilted over and dying right now. how many times have i said, someone paypal me the $120 and i'll get a new dyno with the oem filter. but now i've modded my airbox too so if you wanna pay for a new airbox top i could put that on and the oem filter on and see what i get.

Well at least this time you're not claiming another butt dyno hp improvement because of the dremeled/sanded airbox. :v ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Go ahead and try, I am quite sure that you will regret it afterwards and be making a call to the dealer for a pricey switchrow. Have you even bothered to take the dash apart to see what you are working with? I will make the "I TOLD YOU SO" pretty painless when the time comes.
