Angry When picking up my car from service....

Yesterday when picking up my car from the service center (just a handful of small warrenty issues, even tho they forgot about half of them) the woman at the desk (speaking to the man who was about to go get my car and bring it to me) said "He's got one of those new weird ones, so its in the back". Not exactly a really nice way of describing my C-Coupe is it??? Oh well...

That's got me thinking....I wonder if the techs treat our C-Coupes like cheap rental cars when we bring them into service.

Does a C-Coupe get the same attention that an SL would? Do the C-Coupes get channeled directly to the "rookie" techs because their the cheapest model in the (USA) MB lineup? Do they use my Coupe as a guinnea pig to test the strength of the new lift? Do they make sure they suck out ALL the oil and make sure the oil filter is on tight?

...makes me wonder....

Remember, part of the goal with the C Coupe is to introduce new buyers to the marque. Most people won't buy a second car if the service (or vehicle) really blows.

You could make a case for the opposite as well. Most of the techs at the dealer will never be able to afford one of the top-of-the-line Mercs. They might treat the cheaper car with more care as they figure the owner is closer in economic status to themselves.

Doesn't mean that all the dealerships agree with it.

While the C Coupe starts in the mid-twenties, I would imagine that most of them go out the door in the low thirties. To me, anyway, that is a good chunk of change. I would imagine the commission would still be better than your average non-luxury marque. Especially if one considers that a C Coupe buyer today may buy a $40,000 or $50,000 car the next time around. Just my .02 worth.

I like my small MB dealership. I met the head MB tech at the free orientation dinner. The service advisor lets me speak with the tech. All MB and Audi customers get 2002 E-Class loaners. The dealership also sell Dodge cars and trucks. My salesman works in imports, but he will gladly sell Dodges.

Based on the first 2 services I had, I would hope that the veteran techs would be competant enough to not BOTCH the car the way that they did. What I mean is that they definately gave my C-Coupe to a rookie that did not know what the hell they were doing. My opinion is that they give consideration directly proportional to how much $$$ they spend.

On my first visit, I got in line (waited about 10 mins) to get my rental, then I started to give my info and the clerk saw a guy coming from a distance (S-Class Customer) and she actually said, I to take care of this guy first and I had to step aside until he was taken care of. Then, when they had no E-classes left to give him, he made a stink and went directly to the General Manager. This is a True Story, that I never would have imagined. So all you C-coupe people out there - good luck!

Dmicheal,
For the record, I've been to my service dept. once and it was a good experience for me (I don't know how my car felt about it). I was a bit rushed, but then again it was closing time. Anyway, you might want to try the dealer in Manch-vegas, NH if your's gives you that much trouble.

My car knows when it's going back to the dealer. Sorta like when you take your dog to the groomer or the vet.

The grill tries to take a frown, the headlights gloss over as if to cry, and the tailpipes try to close up (like a goat in a room-full of Australian shepards)

(Guess I'm gonna get thrown under the bus for this one!)

I wonder if Mr Bob is still around? Certainly not in this forum.
Gotten awfully quiet as of late, and me, after OWNING a W203 for 24 years, bought another one.
I still think they are one of the sexiest cars on the road and with little moe than sway bars can be made to handle
perfect as they also have a near 50/50 balance.
Thanks for posting. It's fun reading through old posts. So much great info.
I hope it stays here indefinately.
