It was gold but I could not make out the interior color of it, which I am very curious about because I don't think either interior offered in that car would go well with a gold exterior....

It was most likely Desert Silver, they do not offer Designo for the Coupe.

Not only do they offer Designio for the Coupe, you can specify ANY color that MB has ever used on ANY model. Interior choices are limited though, and only leather is available. 6 month waiting period is a minimum...
As I recall, there's a one time fee of $1150, plus a fee of $1150 for paint and 640 for metallic colors.....do the math and tell me why it isn't popular.

I just looked on Mercedes.ca and there is nothing about Designo for the C-Class. Interesting though, how they have the Classic, Elegance, and Avantgarde to choose from and we don't.

I am 100% positive it was Gold, I was utterly confused, because it was the first one I had seen and didn't know it came in that color, it actually looked pretty nice, so when I got home I checked on the MBUSA site and saw it wasn't offered. I am in south florida by the way..

Steve H. on the forum has a desert silver coupe. His picture is posted on page 6 in the sticky official picture thread. The lighting is not the best, but here it is. Desert Silver is not a yellow-gold, but it is easy to mistake it for gold in bright sunlight. My C320 sedan is also desert silver.

If you go to the MBUSA web site and go through their configurator ("Build Your Own") and pick desert silver, the web site will put a light gold or beige-like color on the car. I've driven both a desert silver C320 and ML320, and they don't look like silver at all, they look like light gold or beige. I think this confusing name was probably thought up by some marketing genius who thought "gold" or "beige" wouldn't sell as well for some reason, maybe because silver is an "in" color right now according to the fashion police.

Well to put this whole thing to rest, I did go to the configurator on MBUSA and chose the "desert silver" color and that is the color I saw, and in my eyes that is gold, and it is the same gold color I see on the 4 door c classes, you're right shkeller55 it is totally a marketing thing...

Ironic! In my area, C coupes are rare, and I just saw a Desert Silver coupe today too, way out in the middle of the BFE rural Illinois, between cornfields and bean fields! And to boot, I wasn't in my Mercedes, so I couldn't do the C-coupe wave "bonding"!
The first time I saw a Desert Silver coupe, I reacted exactly the same way....."do they come in that color??" I went home and researched it and found the color on the MB website. It's a very pretty color, especially in bright sunlight.

Yes, very pretty and elegant looking, as well as practical. Being a lighter color it reflects heat. And this particular shade (very similar to the color we had on our Nissan Quest) "hides" dirt and dust well until you have time to wash it off.

Gold
Gold is a designo colour
And the designo exterior and interior colour are offer to any M-B 2002 models in Canada and you just need to pay around $3000 for one designo option
I also saw one Gold Sport coupe in dealer few months ago.
I think is fit the S-C.
By the way the paint code for Gold colour is 030

I must confirm with PHYBENZ.
Yesterday, I saw a gold (really gold like a Volvo) -- almost orange -- E320 in Los Angeles. It was flashy but it didn't look like some paint shop did it. Could be one of those designos.
I took note that the car was full and they were possibly nationals from Africa somewhere from the really elegant clothing they were wearing. (Remember Coming to America?)
Perhaps they brought the car here?
It was really different to see a car in that color.

2002 C230K Sport Coupe M6 C5 desert silver
It was overcast and late in the day when I took the picture above. (I only had a daughter's camera for an hour or so). I can testify that the desert silver color is very light sensitive. In some light conditions it is bronze and others a gold. Street lights and dusk favors the gold. Easy to identify it as a gold. In my area, Columbia, MD, we now have 3 Desert Silver coupes. It 's possible that we might have the highest concentration of anywhere. In this town of 80K or so I have personally spotted 2 orion blues, 1 silver, 2 reds, 1 white and the 3 DS coupes mentioned above.

Steve, I wasn't complaining about your photographic abilities, just that the color is more vibrant in direct sunlight, as you say. I like my DS Sedan, and I'm pleased to see some Coupes in this color... For me, yours was the first I had seen.
Hope you didn't mind my reposting your picture here, but we DS fans have to stick together, right?

2002 C230K Sport Coupe M6 C5 desert silver
MBBob, I was delighted to see the picture. It was your comment to one of my first posts back in Nov right after I got the car that made me post it. At the time I thought you were just curious as the great orion blue debate was going on but later I realized that you also had the same color car. My comment about the conditions was that the picture doesn't do the car justice. I have yet to invest in a digital camera and my daughter had just bought one and was visiting so I didn't have a choice of the time. What I should of done is include my daughter in the picture but then no one would be looking at the car.

Gold
A gold, slightly more brassy than your typical wedding ring, is available for the C in Canada under the Designo palette, and as someone else posted, the colour code is 030. I absolutely love the desert silver metallic, but the Designo gold is quite hideous - WAY too brassy to be classy ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
My favourite Designo colour is 026 - Ocean Blue, which is a dark aquamarine metallic.
