Less than 3 months : problems

I got my C230K SS in early April 2005. Here are some problems.

1) I started the engine yesterday, the bixenons switched on by themselves. They refused go off even while I drive. Instruments and steering controls life-less. Switched on my radio and the display was very dimmed.
Drove around for awhile, lights went off, instruments and controls back but warning message: SRS faulty, drive to workshop. Drive for another 5 mins, no more SRS warning light. All back to normal.
This happened 2 times yesterday. Went to workshop, guess what, I can't get my car in until next Monday because the electrical specialist guy is on training somewhere.
Today, drove my car 3 times, but it won't get back to normal.
Driving around with bixenons makes drivers infront think I am being a bully or a show-off or plain dumb. (in my country, we are not required to switch on headlights in daytime)

2) Rocking sound from suspension when going over speed bumps

3) Bi-xenons rattling noise when auto-levelling

4) clock resets to 12.00pm 01.01.2003 all the time.

All the above can only be done next Monday. Arrgghh !

I'm not too familiar with the C-class, but for the CL and SL there is a convenience menu accessed through the steering wheel which allows the driver to have the headlight on at all times. I think these are the daytime running lights. Your other problems see to be the MB gremlins that many of us fight daily (I just picked my car up for the dealer 30 minutes ago and it's still not right.)

I feel your pain. I'm gonna bring my car in next week for some issues.
1) car pulls to the right like everyone else
2) brake feels a lil shakey
3) AC not strong enough

BTW, me & my friend did an oil change before the service A (me@4500 miles & friend@ 9200 miles). The tech (non-MB) told us that the oils were really blacked, so my advice is to change oil before the service A.

Most likely your alternator is bad. Mine did that one day and then a couple of times a day for the next few days. Replaced alternator and all was good after that! If that is the problem make sure they aim your headlights properly. They did not on mine so I had to go back in order to see at night. They have to remove the sway bar to access the alternator and thus screw up the leveling mechanism!

At the convenience menu, I have always set the headlights to Manual on.

They said they will do an update on the software/module. It should help the problem. "Should"....sounds like they are not very sure too. Funny that the car is only 3 months old and software is outdated.

Bi-xenon auto-levelling noise, they will do a re-calibration. Also...."should" help the problem.

As for AC, I think current model C class doesn't have strong AC like other models.

It seems that all techs in europe are getting some formation in these days!!!
Time to time when I go to my dealer, some guy is missing for formation, since march

Don't know about the AC on your car but on mine, I cannot handle 64 degrees F at 4.5 setting for more than 20 minutes. It's just too cold for me. It's weird because on my old 328i, I could handle 59 degrees F at full setting for a long time.

The weather here is all the time Summer. Hot and humid.
Generally I only use between 0.5 to 3.5 setting at 64 degrees, and is comfortable enough.

But just for comparison, my old W124, at 1 setting, it is equivalent to C class's 2.5/3 setting. So I find the fan speed of C class is not as strong.

Sounds like your electrical power is intermittent. Make sure the battery terminals are tight and there's proper fluid level in the battery.

I have heard of a recall of all RHD W203's for a problem with the battery. I am not sure the exact problem, but it seems to affect battries made by Hoppecke.

The new quality manager at Benz has made some software changes for the C Class, and he has taken the extra step to upgrade cars in the hands of customers, as well as new production. (applause)

I work in Shah Alam from time to time, and it is really hot! A really dark window tint is almost mandatory to feel cool when going to lunch. Malaysia is a great country, with nice people. I hope your electrical problem is solved soon.

I had a problem with my headlights staying on in the daytime. A gift from the north end of a southbound bird had covered the sensor. My dealer washed the car, complementary in OC, and my problem was solved.

Hey Moviela, where are you from?
I have heard of a recall too. But this recall is not in Malaysia. Currently all E class are going thru the recall program.
Today I decided to drive straight to another service centre. In order for them to see the problem, I decided not to off the engine while I called for a technician. I left the door slightly ajar since I know Mercs do not lock the doors when the driver's door is ajar. But when I came back the the technician, all doors were locked. So in the end I waited 2 hours while my brother brought me the spare key to open the doors. All the time the engine, headlights, AC running.....
I didn't get anything done at all, it was 5 pm already. Am I that unlucky?

I live in Orange County, near Disneyland.

If you are unlucky one day, the next will be lucky! I am in great fear that some car park valet or country club car jocky will lock my key in the car. To have it done with the engine running must have been terrible. I had an additional metal key made for my car that I carry in my wallet at all times.

I thought that technicians had a "workshop key" that could open any car. Perhaps that is just an urban legend.

I hope they find the dodgy part in your car soon!

After that incident, I now carry the metal key from my spare key.
I am rather disappointed that the Merc technicians, who have all the tools and knowledge, couldn't do anything. They were even mumbling about an option to call up a nearby spray paint guy to pry open the door or something.

I love my car but Daimler Chrysler Malaysia & its workshops have let me down big time.

Hey lets meet up if you are here the next time.

As you can see from the photo below, instrument clusters gone crazy. Note the key wasn't even inserted yet. After the car is started, they remain the same, multi-function display is total blank, bi-xenons can't be switched off.

Yeah, but first they must change the direction of the roads.
