Engine sound at 3000 RPM
It sounds like a metal gate flapping and beating on metal (like a valve of some sort
)Do you guys have any idea about this?

Just kidding.
I bet it's the supercharger beginning to spool up - those suckers are quite noisy above 3K rpm.
But i noticed on my car it does it when the car is not warmed up yet, after it is warmed up (10-15 minutes of driving) the noise seem's to dissapear a little.
i have no idea... i think you need to take a video...

HAPPY CANADA DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got back from a free Big Sugar Canada day (9-10 PM PST)concert in Victoria, followed by fireworks. A great show, my 3 kids loved it.

This morning I listened to the engine after driving to work (about 15 minutes) and indeed the metallic sound wasn't there. The engine actually sounded nice.

i'm not sure what makes that metallic sound exactly, but i've learned to love it. get it up to 5400 rpm and it really screams

Now that I have the windows open most of the time while driving I began noticing an unpleasant sound from the engine at around 3000 RPM.

Is the noise only when in motion or is it present in neutral at 3000 rpm ?
The noise is present in both neutral and in gear starting around 3000 RPM for the first ?-15 minutes.
After that it seems to go away in both neutral and in gear.
Might be worth checking out.
I'll try to find this heat shield.
What is it made of? What side of the engine is it?
